This is what it’s all about.
Pictured here is Firefighter/Paramedic Jared Rowell and his son Owen teaching about Fire Safety at Owen’s old school. Firefighter Rowell and Jr. Firefighter Rowell talked about stop drop and roll, and crawling low when there is smoke.
These are the things that make us proud of our members. This is exactly why we are who we are.
Thank you to the Rowell boys for sharing your knowledge and improving the community!

Pictured here is Dover Engineer/Paramedic Brian Jacques and his son who is a junior firefighter in Rollinsford who were on a scene together. The fire service is always said to be a family but it runs so much deeper than people know. Many of the members of Dover have family members who were firefighters before them and there is nothing we love more than to see the family tradition continue!

Today was the 20th Anniversary of the New Hampshire Fallen Firefighters Memorial. Each year this ceremony is held to remember those lost in the line of duty. This memorial has 3 Dover firefighters on it, all who lost their lives in the line of duty.

James Smith who was the Fire Chief at the time of his death. Chief Smith was killed during a gas leak on Washington Street that exploded in 1925.

Ernest LeBlanc who died from smoke inhalation from a fire on Second Street in 1959.

George Grenier who died in 1972 who suffered a fatal heart attack while battling a fire on Silver Street.

Also on the Memorial is Lieutenant Chris DeWolf who served on the Dover Fire Department for 17 years as a firefighter, paramedic, and lieutenant before he went to Newington Fire Department as a Lieutenant. Chris was killed in 2005 in a motor vehicle accident that occurred while responding to the station for a call.

Firefighter/Paramedic Sierra Rodenhuis performed the National Anthem and Go Rest High on that Mountain at the ceremony.
