Sister Lakes Firefighters were called to assist with this multi alarm fire today in South Haven. It is not often we are called to this area, however incidents of this size require a lot of assistance from neighboring departments. We provided 2 tankers to assist with getting water to the site. Departments from 4 counties were called in to assist.

🇺🇸 TODAY — LET’S LINE THE STREETS FOR THE 9/11 RIDE TO REMEMBER 🇺🇸

Today, the Berrien County Riders 9/11 Ride to Remember will make its way through our community as we mark the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001.

Sister Lakes — we’re asking our community to come out, bring your American flags, and line the route.

🏍️ FIRST PASS — APPROX. 12:30 PM
The ride will enter Sister Lakes from the west, traveling:

Napier Avenue → CR 690 South → Indian Lake Road South → M-62 → City of Dowagiac

🇺🇸 RETURN PASS — APPROX. 2:15 PM
The riders will return to Sister Lakes on:

M-152 → Napier Avenue → M-140 North

Times are approximate, so please come out a little early and find a safe place along the route.

Bring your family. Bring your flag. Line the streets. Let every rider who passes through our community see that Sister Lakes remembers.

2,977 lives were lost on September 11, 2001.

Fathers and mothers. Sons and daughters. Brothers and sisters. Friends and neighbors. First responders and civilians.

Twenty-five years later, we remember them all.

You don't need a motorcycle to be part of today's Ride to Remember. Sometimes remembrance is simply standing together as a community while they pass.

Let's fill the Sister Lakes route with American flags and send a powerful message:

🇺🇸 25 YEARS LATER — WE REMEMBER. WE HONOR. WE WILL NEVER FORGET. 🇺🇸

Yesterday, Sister Lakes Firefighters joined firefighters from the Keeler Township Fire Department for a day of training focused on recreational water incidents and emergency response on our area lakes.

The day began in the classroom, where firefighters discussed the different types of emergencies we may encounter on the water, the unique challenges these incidents can present, and ways we can continue improving our response. The training also generated several great ideas for enhancing our water-response capabilities—ideas we look forward to working toward and implementing in the future.

Following the classroom portion, crews took to the water for hands-on training. Firefighters worked through a scenario involving an injured patient in the water, practicing how to safely stabilize the patient, secure them to a backboard, transfer them into our watercraft, and safely transport them back to shore.

With so many lakes in the community we serve, being prepared for water-related emergencies is an important part of what we do. Training together allows us to improve our skills while also strengthening the communication and teamwork between departments that are often called upon to work side-by-side during an emergency.

Thank you to the firefighters from the Keeler Township Fire & Rescue Department for joining us and helping make this a productive day of training.

School is officially back in session today! As students head back for a brand-new school year, we would like to remind everyone to slow down, stay alert, and help keep our kids safe.

* Watch for school buses — flashing red lights and an extended stop arm mean STOP.
* Slow down in school zones and watch closely for children walking or biking.
* Put the phone down and keep your attention on the road.
* Allow a little extra time for morning and afternoon traffic.
* Be especially careful around bus stops, intersections, and neighborhoods.

Our kids are counting on all of us to make sure they get to school and back home safely every day.

From all of us at Sister Lakes Fire Department, we wish our students, teachers, staff, bus drivers, and families a safe, successful, and wonderful school year!
