PLANNED POWER OUTAGE IN THE DRIGGS AREA

Fall River Electric Cooperative has scheduled a planned power outage for Tuesday 10/13 and again Thursday 10/15 at approximately midnight each morning. This outage will accommodate construction work by the Bonneville Power Administration (BPA) at our shared Targhee substation across from the Teton County Courthouse in Driggs. Each outage will impact a large portion of Driggs from Cedron Road north to 2500 N and east to Booshway Street. These outages should last no longer than fifteen (15) minutes each morning.

Affected Fall River Electric members will receive a pre-recorded phone message before the outage. Fall River Electric offices will be CLOSED on Monday, October 12th in recognition of the Columbus Day national holiday.

This week, six of our 911 Dispatchers completed a week long training and certification process to answer, process and dispatch medical and fire emergencies meeting national best practices and industry norms. This certification is through Priority Dispatch, the industry leading source of dispatching protocols. TCFR is so grateful for this initiative by the Sheriff’s Office and Teton County. We are certain this training will save lives by ensuring pre-arrival instructions can be delivered by the dispatcher until our emergency responders arrive!

The month of October is Fire Prevention Month. This is the time of year where we share an important fire safety message with the community. This year's theme relates to Battery Safety in the home or workspace. Since 2011, there have been over 198,000 structure fires involving lithium-ion batteries. The occurrence of these fires grows 10% annually. We take this time to warn you of Battery Fires and will offer some helpful tips to keep you safe.

Strong work by Teton Valley Health in meeting or exceeding national standards. These efforts matter in life and death situations…

We’ve received some incredible feedback from the state of Idaho Time Sensitive Emergency Program regarding our response times compared to our peers, and we’re excited to share a few highlights with our community!

In 2025, many of our response times were notably lower than those of our peers. Two in particular stood out to us:

Door-to-First EKG - For heart attack patients, this measures the number of minutes from the time a patient walks through our doors until their first EKG is completed. The national goal is 10 minutes or less.

Our incredible team achieved a facility median of just 7 minutes! This puts us well below the national goal and ahead of many of our peers. Our team is fast, efficient, and ready to provide critical care when every minute matters.

Door-to-Brain Imaging Read time measures the time from when a patient arrives at the hospital to when their brain imaging is interpreted by a radiologist. The national goal is 45 minutes or less.

Our team achieved an impressive facility median of just 35 minutes—10 minutes faster than the national goal! Once again, notably lower than those of our peers.

Achieving this rapid turnaround requires exceptional coordination and teamwork between EMS, our Emergency Department, and Radiology teams. Every minute matters when caring for patients with potential stroke, and this accomplishment demonstrates our team’s commitment to providing timely, high-quality care to our community.

We are incredibly proud of our amazing staff and the care they provide to our community every day. Their dedication to providing timely, efficient, and high-quality care is one of the many reasons our hospital has earned its designation as a Level III Stroke Center and a Level II STEMI Center.

We’re proud of our team and grateful for the opportunity to care for our community!

We are honored and extremely grateful to our partner agencies; Community Foundation of Teton Valley, The Nature Conservancy, the Teton Valley Fire Action Community Team, Grand Targhee Mountain Resort and our amazing community members. As stated, what started as a conversation and curiosity about our wildfire problem led to a public/private partnership to fund a full time Wildfire Mitigation Coordinator for TCFR. We feel strongly that adding this capacity to the organization will allow us to prioritize our mitigation projects, use science and data to make informed decisions and ultimately better prepare our organization and community for the threat of a future wildfire. Fact is, the Fire Department cannot solve this problem. We will need community buy in and support if we are to move forward. This position will be filled in November and we can’t wait to update you in coming weeks.

The Teton Valley community rallied around wildfire mitigation efforts in summer 2026 by donating $216,000 for Teton County Fire Rescue to hire a Wildfire Mitigation Coordinator.
