To encourage and aid American youth to develop, train them in seagoing skills, and to teach them patriotism, courage, self-reliance and kindred virtues.
Since 1958 the Naval Sea Cadet Corps (NSCC) has been committed to providing American youth, ages 13-17, who have a desire to learn about the Navy, Marine Corps, Coast Guard and Merchant Marine. Sea Cadets are authorized by the Secretary of the Navy to wear Navy uniforms appropriately marked with the Sea Cadet Corps insignia. Day 1 of Field Operations kicked off with the arrival of cadets, who quickly settled in and started their training. The afternoon and evening were spent learning about living in the field and Land Navigation exercises.

New cadets and preparations for this year's Seamanship Challenge, so our cadets have been busy indeed. Next Drill, our sister units and us will meet for one day to decide who among us is the "best" and will hold the trophy until next year. Good luck cadets!

Six of cadets had a unique opportunity last evening in Boston, MA. They were invited to shoot of the canon at sunset aboard the USS Constitution in Boston Harbor. They also got a private tour of the ship that most people never get a chance to experience. Cadet Louv had the honor of firing the canon and signing the ships gunners log.
