Fuelwood permits are available year-round through our E-Permits website
https://epermits.fs2c.usda.gov/ – quick, easy, and ready whenever you are.

Grab your permit before heading out and enjoy the warmth all winter long.
And just a heads-up: this applies to personal-use firewood.

Permits are not required for small amounts you might gather for a campfire while visiting.

This vintage poster shares age-old wisdom from Smokey Bear.
Recreate responsibly by making sure fires are dead out before leaving.
Remember, only you can prevent wildfires.

Active management is how we restore health to our forests. It’s how we lower fire risk. It’s how we keep forests open and productive. That’s why we are:

Thinning overstocked forests and salvaging dead timber to reduce fire risk.
Working with partners to thin around communities and critical infrastructure.
Every acre treated is an acre that burns less intensely.
Every project completed makes our firefighters safer and our communities more resilient.
Rapid response and fuels reduction protect lives, forests, and the places we call home.
What it means for you: Safer communities, cleaner air, and fewer severe wildfires.

Got yard debris? Never burn when it’s windy. Create a safe zone of at least 10 feet of gravel or dirt around your burn pile and keep water and a shovel close by.

Sneak peak—no, really, peak colors really sneak up on ya!

All of a sudden, almost half the state is at peak, with the other half well on its way. Where will you go this weekend to see the autumn glory?
