The mission of Mentor North is to celebrate youth and support their families through one-on-one mentorship and community engagement.

Wanted to run Grandma's Marathon - Duluth, Inc. in June 2027 - but the bibs sold out in 174 minutes? There is STILL an option!

Join Mentor North’s Charity Team with a guaranteed bib in the race you choose.

Here’s how it works:
- Choose your race: Full Marathon, Half Marathon, or 5K
- Reserve your spot: Complete the commitment form at the QR code
- Raise funds for youth mentoring: Mentor North covers your race entry; you commit to fundraising for youth across the Twin Ports
- Get your bib: We’ll send your registration code to guarantee your spot

Take Action Wednesday - Superior Based 11 year old Looking for a Mentor!

All About Me
I love to swim, fish, bike and hike in the summer and sled, tube, and ice fish in the winter. I’m learning to cook and bake, and like playing cards and board games. I love being active outdoors but also like some quiet time inside.

What I Want in a Mentor
I’m looking for a young, outgoing, male mentor who is excited to try new things, enjoys being outside and is consistent. I want someone to spend quality, one-on-one time with who is a good listener.

Fun Fact!
I really love trucks and trains! I love visiting The Depot in Duluth!

Join us for our annual Fall into Mentoring event to hear stories from current mentors and youth, learn how to get involved and cozy up with great FREE food from New Scenic Café

Tuesday, October 27th 5:30-7:30pm at Harrison Park Community Center will be a great night to meet Mentor North staff and learn about the opportunities to mentor one youth, change two lives (yours too!) and build your community. Match Story Monday!

This week, we're celebrating Mentor Jonah and youth Kayden who have been matched since July 2026.

Kayden shared some of his favorite activities to do with his mentor Jonah. He shared that he loves, “[The] trampoline park, Adventure Zone, skipping rocks, and eating ice-cream!”

Kayden also shared that he feels Jonah is “…always looking out for me and making sure I’m okay. Always making sure that I’m being careful.”

Mentor Jonah shared that he has learned thus far “… to not put so much pressure on myself for large extravagant outtings, and that just showing up can be the "rose" of my mentees week.”

Finally, Mentor Jonah shared some recent highlights with Kayden, “I told his Mom I had a lot of errands to run, but she assured me that as long as we do them together; Kayden will have a blast. I told him we were knights and had a list of quests to complete. We grabbed my partner lunch, picked up my car from the shop, then went to stop by Walgreens but it was during their lunch time so we went to Leif Erickson Park to wait. We ended up burning an hour and a half skipping rocks, as it's one of my favorite pass-times and Kayden picked it up quickly. This is now ranked pretty high on our list on activities to do, though I fear it will never outrank Skyzone (if you mentors haven't utilized the unlimited pass at Skyzone: it's a blast. Very good for burning lots of energy and exhausting muscles you forgot you had).”

The deadline to apply for our Community Experience Coordinator role is Monday, October 19th at Noon!

We’re looking for someone who:

- Enjoys building relationships with youth, volunteers, families, and community partners

- Thrives on connecting people with a diverse array of community-based activities and experiences

- Is comfortable meeting people where they are, whether at community spaces or online

- Communicates proactively and responsively through in-person, phone, email, text, and digital channels

- Attends to the details that keep projects moving forward and people connected

- Can work both independently and collaboratively in a hybrid work environment

Volunteers Needed for The Haunted Shack!

Come join in the frightful-fun this Halloween season with Mentor North at The Haunted Shack in Carlton! We’re looking for 10+ more volunteers to scare the pants off attendees, Thursday, October 22nd from 6pm to 10pm!

Costumes, makeup and orientation are provided

Transportation is on your own (but we can help coordinate carpools as needed)

Participants sign a waiver in advance

Youth age 13+ preferred AND must be accompanied by an adult

Volunteers MUST stay the whole time

Additional Know-Before-You-Go details will be shared with those who sign up

This is a great event for our older mentees, our mentors, friends, and family! Volunteer and college teams/clubs groups welcome!

Take Action Wednesday - Cloquet Based 9 year old Looking for a Mentor!

All About Me
I’m very bubbly and friendly. I love doing all sorts of activities, both indoors and outdoors. I like arts and crafts, singing, rollerblading, gymnastics, movies, and searching for agates. I love animals and really want to hold a chicken.

What I Want in a Mentor
I want a mentor of any gender or age, but I would prefer a mentor in their 20's. I want them to be kind and do makeovers with me. It would be fun to go to restaurants, an alpaca farm, the aquarium, Jay Cooke State Park, and the library.

Fun Fact!
My favorite animal is the great white shark because they are cute!

Match Story Monday!

This week, we're celebrating our Mentor Charity and youth Aspyn who have been matched since July 2025.

When we asked Aspyn about some of her favorite activities with Charity she shared, “I liked painting rocks, going to the beach and playing giant bubbles, going to the zoo and planting cacti.”

Aspyn also shared a proud match moment: “I tried mountain biking through a train tunnel (Ely’s Peak) with my mentor and I loved it!”

Mentor Charity shared what she has learned recently through her match: “I have learned all about Taylor Swift's greatest hits and new releases. I have also learned I can have hope in the next generation if they are as curious, kind and energetic as my match.”

Finally, Charity shared a great mentoring moment with us: “One of my most endearing memories from this summer was playing in the low water at little Manitou Falls. Aspyn was able to catch frogs with her bare hands and also minnows! She delighted in exploring the underwater world and was excited to share that if you laid your hand against the rock under the algae, the little minnows would come nibble the algae off your fingers. I wouldn't have thought to try that without her. Seeing her try new things and take joy in novel experiences warms my heart and makes me care about her even more.”

Take Action Wednesday - Duluth Based 11 year old Looking for a Mentor!

All About Me
I love to learn and I’m interested in WWII. I like to read and enjoy playing with my toy planes. I have many Nerf guns and love to build Lego. I like fishing, boating, sledding, playing video games, and card and board games. I like animals and have a pet lizard.

What I Want in a Mentor
I’m looking for a young male mentor that I can relate to. He should be into history and Star Wars. I would enjoy going to the B**g Museum together as well as to the aquarium, movies, zoo, Sky Zone, and the YMCA.

Fun Fact!
When I grow up, I want to be a historian and visit the National History Museum.
