This past Tuesday, we, along with Damiano Center and Union Gospel Mission Duluth, and with support from Downtown Duluth, announced Pathway Forward, an initiative by the three organizations to commit to closer collaboration, eliminate duplication of services, improve service delivery for people experiencing homelessness, and alleviate pressure on the downtown community. Wanting to create an optimal environment for all, the new arrangement seeks realignment of programs across all three organizations over several years' time.

The planned changes to Chum, as well as Damiano and UGM, will be seen in a variety of ways. The type of shelter currently under construction at our 2nd street location will shift, blending the best of emergency shelter and transitional housing operations. Damiano will absorb Chum's current drop-in and overnight shelter on their third floor, as it is operating currently, and UGM will be constructing a new Mission Engagement Center and Housing project in the coming years, which will serve as the entry-point for services. Together, the three agencies are committed to paving a clear path to stable housing for those experiencing homelessness. In addition to location shifts, needed community resources will be added, such as mental health services, employment navigation, and others.

From the bottom of our hearts, THANK YOU to everyone for your continued support and dedication to building community with your fellow neighbors, through Chum and elsewhere in your communities. We, now and always, remain committed to our mission of providing basic necessities, fostering stable lives, and organizing for a just and compassionate community. 💕
