🇺🇸 WE WILL NEVER FORGET 🇺🇸

Today, the Dumas Police Department joins our nation in remembering the nearly 3,000 innocent lives lost on September 11, 2001.

We honor the firefighters, law enforcement officers, emergency medical personnel, military members, and ordinary citizens who demonstrated extraordinary courage in the face of unimaginable tragedy. We remember those who ran toward danger to save others—many making the ultimate sacrifice.

We also stand with the families whose lives were forever changed and recognize the countless first responders who continue to suffer from illnesses related to their service at Ground Zero.

May we never forget the lives lost, the heroes who answered the call, and the unity that brought our nation together.

Their courage is remembered. Their sacrifice is honored. Their legacy lives on.

🇺🇸 September 11, 2001 — Never Forget. 🇺🇸

The Dumas Police Department would like to extend our sincere appreciation to everyone who helped make the art project at the Dumas Animal Shelter such a tremendous success.

We would especially like to recognize Raphael McHenry, art teacher Selinda Hightower, and, most importantly, the talented students of the DISD High School Art Club. Your creativity, hard work, and willingness to serve our community have given the shelter a much-needed transformation.

This project is a wonderful example of what can be accomplished when people come together with compassion and a shared desire to make a difference. Thank you for caring about our animal shelter and the animals it serves. The continuing artwork looks amazing, and we are truly grateful!

Drive Safe Dumas: Texas Transportation Code 547.613 Restrictions on Windows & Title 37 Texas Administrative Code 21.3 Standards for Sunscreening and Privacy Window Devices.

Thinking about tinting your vehicle’s windows? The Dumas Police Department would like to provide a friendly reminder about Texas window-tint requirements.

✅ Front side windows: Must allow at least 25% of light to pass through. This is measured with the factory glass and tint film combined.

✅ Rear side windows: No darkness restriction under Texas law.

✅ Rear window: Any darkness is permitted if the vehicle has an outside mirror on both sides that provides the driver with a view at least 200 feet behind the vehicle. Without both mirrors, the rear window must allow at least 25% light transmission.

✅ Windshield: Tint may be installed only above the manufacturer’s AS-1 line. If there is no AS-1 line, it may extend no more than five inches from the top of the windshield. Windshield tint must allow at least 25% light transmission, cannot exceed 25% reflectance, and cannot be red, amber, or blue.

A clear, untinted UV film may be installed anywhere on the windshield. Medical exemptions may also allow darker tint on the front side windows when the driver possesses proper documentation from a licensed physician or optometrist.

🩺 Medical Exemption: A person who requires darker tint for medical reasons must carry a signed statement from a licensed physician or licensed optometrist. The statement must identify the driver or vehicle occupant and explain that the tint is medically necessary to protect that person’s health. The documentation should be presented to law enforcement upon request.

A medical exemption may permit darker tint on the front side windows and the upper portion of the windshield. However, it does not generally authorize tint below the AS-1 line or the five-inch windshield limit.

⚠️ Remember: A film advertised as “25% tint” can still produce an illegal reading when combined with the vehicle’s factory-tinted glass. The final combined reading must be at least 25%.

These requirements remain enforceable even though Texas no longer requires annual safety inspections for most noncommercial vehicles.

Stay informed, drive safely, and keep a clear view of the road!
