Due to an auto accident with a fatality on the Toll Bridge, the bridge will be closed, both directions, for the next couple of hours. Please find an alternate route and please have some patience, traffic on other routes will no doubt be heavier. Stay safe out there.

We’re there anytime you need us. Thank you Chuck for jumping in there!

Parks and Rec headed out to put the flags at half-staff in honor of Dolly Parton. 🇺🇸

When the flag got stuck, Dunbar Fire Department jumped in to help. 🚒

Teamwork at its best! 🤝 Thank you to our Parks and Rec crew and Dunbar Fire Department for working together to serve our community.

In this post, I spoke about our new DIB boat. We would like to thank Walter Hall WV House Of Delegate District 58 and Mark Hunt for WV Auditor for their assistance with the LEDA (Local Economic Development Act) Community Grants program in helping us obtain the funding for this unit. Our old boat, would not have been able to have been used on this response, so we are definitely grateful for their help. The LEDA program definitely could have saved a few lives on this response!

On Sunday, at 4:42 pm, Dunbar FD was dispatched for water rushing into a residence from the terrible storms that hit the Kanawha Valley. Our new DIB boat came in handy today and the A Shift crew was able to rescue the woman out of her house (which on our arrival had about 18 inches of water in it) along with 4 dogs. Great job fellas!!

This afternoon, you may have seen Truck-561 set up behind the old Kroger as it was time for the annual aerial ladder testing. This has to be completed on an annual basis to ensure that the ladder is safe for use and climbing. As we expected, the ladder passed with no problems at all

From our friends at Los Agaves Dunbar, this is why we do what we do. We appreciate their kind words to us and we can’t wait until they’re back open!

As many of you know, DFD responded to a structure fire at Los Agaves on Saturday. Dunbar Fire Department ladder truck 561 was the first fire apparatus on scene and within 5 minutes of arriving, we had the ladder set up to the roof, flowing water and the majority of the fire knocked down. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. We’d like to thank South Charleston Fire Department and Charleston Fire Department for their assistance and also Mike Hoffman for catching the plug for us! Great job everyone!
