This morning at 10:15 a.m., folks across the nation are participating in the Great American Shake Out. What is that? It's a safety drill to help prepare you in case you ever find yourself in an earthquake.

What should you do? Set your alarm for 10:15 a.m. When the alarm sounds, follow these three steps:

1. Drop as low as you can get - preferable on the floor. Those using a walker or wheelchair - lock the wheels.

2.) Take cover. If possible, get underneath a sturdy table or desk. If no table is nearby or if you are physically unable to get on the floor, bend over and cover your head with your hands.

3.) Hold on! Practice holding onto the table leg or door jamb.

While Duncan isn't within 100 miles of a major faultline, it's still good to be prepared!

Drive with caution - especially in areas prone to flooding such at Highway 81.

Remember, just six inches of moving water can knock you down, and one foot of moving water can sweep your vehicle away.
