As always, we are thankful for our members who are continuously willing to train and further their skill sets, no matter the topic or discipline.

This continued dedication helps ensure the best service is provided to our community, no matter the situation.

Last week, DFD hosted our 3rd Quarter Automatic Aid Burn at the Spartanburg County Emergency Services Academy.

20 members from DFD (Duncan and Wellford), Startex Fire District, Reidville Area Fire District, and Poplar Springs Fire Service Area (Fairmont) trained from 5:00–9:30 PM, focusing on apartment fire operations and multiple victim removals from multiple floors.

Thank you to our automatic aid partners for their participation and continued commitment to training together. Strong partnerships and realistic training help ensure our crews are ready when it matters most.

Today, the DFD joins our nation in remembering September 11, 2001.

25 years ago, 2,977 innocent people were murdered in the attacks on our country. Among them were 343 firefighters and 71 other emergency responders who made the ultimate sacrifice while responding to the attacks. That number continues to rise as we lose those who worked countless hours in the aftermath to the lasting effects of their service.

We remember the lives lost.
We honor the families left behind.
We salute the first responders who ran toward danger when others were running away.

Their courage, sacrifice, and dedication will never be forgotten.

25 years later, we still remember. We will never forget.
