Serial Arsonist Targeting Utility Poles hits Dundee

On September 30, 2026, Dundee Police officers responded to a report of a utility pole on fire near the intersection of Pherdun Road and Ann Arbor Road. Witnesses recorded the incident and provided investigators with a description of a vehicle believed to be associated with the incident.

On October 1, 2026, law enforcement agencies in Sterling Heights and Auburn Hills were investigating similar utility pole fires. Auburn Hills Police also issued a law enforcement bulletin containing a vehicle description and license plate information which matched the vehicle identified during the Dundee investigation.

Sterling Heights Police have subsequently arrested a 38-year-old Pittsfield Township woman in connection with a utility pole fire in their jurisdiction. According to Sterling Heights Police, the woman allegedly nearly struck a firefighter while attempting to flee the scene.

The suspect is currently lodged in the Macomb County Jail and is awaiting potential charges from multiple jurisdictions.

Dundee Police Officers Zach Wilburn and Andrew Boski are continuing the Dundee investigation and will submit the case to the Monroe County prosecutor's office for review and consideration of appropriate charges.

Now that’s confusing!

The Village of Dundee was notified this morning that Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) contractors had inadvertently painted lane markings on westbound M-50 at Ann Arbor Rd. which are in contradiction of the posted sign, making that intersection even more confusing.

The Police Department has contacted MDOT and they are reviewing the problem and will correct it as soon as possible. In the meantime, it is suggested that drivers use extra caution ⚠️ in that area.

Dundee Resident Reports Vehicle Stolen Sunday Morning

A resident of Corinth Circle called Dundee Police on Sunday morning at 8:47am to report his 2020 Ford Expedition had been stolen overnight after he received a call from Westland Police advising him that they had recovered his vehicle in their city.

While investigating officers were gathering information from the victim, it was learned that the victim's vehicle had also been used during multiple shootings in Inkster hours earlier. Inkster Police advised they were processing the vehicle for evidence and would notify the vehicle owner when they were done. It was reported by Westland Police that there was no damage to the steering column or interior, suggesting that the suspects/driver had keys.

The owner told investigators that his vehicle was stolen between 1:00am and 5:00am based on the arrival times of family members to the residence overnight. The owner stated that one set of keys for the Expedition had been missing for several days, believing they were possibly dropped in the yard or the garage. Investigators surmise that they keys may have been found or taken earlier in the week at the same time that other vehicles had been entered in the village's western subdivisions and in Bell Estates. Another vehicle stolen from the village last weekend was also recovered in Westland on Tuesday.

Milan Police contacted Dundee Police to share that they are working on leads of a possible suspect vehicle and plate, possibly connected to both thefts.

Residents are reminded again to LOCK YOUR VEHICLE and DO NOT LEAVE VEHICLE KEYS OR VALUABLES in the vehicle. None of the vehicles entered were broken into, all were entered through unlocked doors or with keys. It is also a good time to check the status of outdoor lighting, motion alarms and security cameras.

Please report any suspicious activity to Monroe County Central Dispatch at (734) 243-7070 to have law enforcement check it out. The picture is not of the actual recovered vehicle - but just for reference. Both recent vehicle thefts in Dundee have been white SUV's.

Dundee Police & Westland Police Recover Stolen Lincoln

A 2025 Lincoln Nautilus which was reported stolen from River Ridge Dr. on Monday morning, was recovered in Westland MI on Wednesday. The vehicle's tracking device had been reactivated, and the car was found parked in a driveway in Westland Michigan.

A person who answered the door at the Westland residence stated that they did not have any knowledge of the vehicle and were unable or unwilling to provide anything further. The vehicle was towed and impounded and processed for evidence. There was visible damage to the vehicle's exterior, and the registration plate had been manipulated to avoid detection by automated plate reading devices. Once the vehicle had been processed, it was released to the owner.

The investigation is continuing with assistance from Westland Police and Michigan State Police. The image of the Lincoln Nautilus is for reference only and is not the actual vehicle that was stolen.

DUNDEE POLICE INVESTIGATING STOLEN VEHICLE AND LARCENIES FROM VEHICLES OVERNIGHT

The Dundee Police Department was dispatched to the 500 block of Ridge Point Dr. on Monday morning September 21st at 5:21 am after homeowners discovered that their 2025 Lincoln Nautlilus had been stolen. The vehicle owner indicated she had left her purse and keys in the unlocked vehicle. In addition, the victim's son's wallet was also stolen. Although bank and credit cards were cancelled once the theft was discovered, it was learned that their cards had been used for purchases overnight. An online app which enables to find the vehicle had been disabled form the vehicle, apparently by the suspect(s.)

At the time of this posting, three other victims in the vicinity of Bell Estates off of Helle Blvd. contacted Dundee Police to report the theft of their wallets and credit cards overnight from their vehicles. Activity on all these stolen cards is being examined. In particular, an attempted purchase with a stolen card this morning at a retailer in Washtenaw County is being checked further. The retailer has video of the suspects while in the store and possibly of the vehicle they used.

Video surveillance from Ring cameras in the River Ridge subdivision area have been shared with Dundee Police. The suspects, believed to number two or three, were observed on video in the area shortly after midnight walking with flashlights. Approximately 2 hours later the Lincoln was stolen. Officers believe the stolen vehicle and larcenies are related. Anyone with additional information or video is asked to contact Officer Brian Biegasjki at [email protected] or Sgt. Frank Chirillo at [email protected]

Everyone is reminded to NEVER leave anything valuable in your vehicle and to ALWAYS lock it up!

Subject Arrested Following Theft From Dundee Tractor Supply

A 33 year old Highland Michigan woman was arrested by Dundee Police Thursday afternoon after allegedly stealing over $300.00 worth of clothing and merchandise from the Dundee Tractor Supply located at 16947 Tecumseh St. in the village.

Employees at the store called 911 after observing the suspect select and conceal several items and then pass all points of purchase without paying for them and continued to exit the store and run towards an adjacent corn field. Employees were able to provide a detailed description of the subject and her direction and location to 911 operators. That information was relayed to Dundee Police officers responding to the call.

Dundee PD officer Brian Biegajski arrived moments later and spotted a subject matching the description exiting a cornfield and attempted to contact the subject. However, the female ran back towards the field ignoring the officers commands to stop. After a short foot pursuit the female was taken into custody. She was in possession of and wearing several of the stolen items.

The woman refused to provide any identification or information. Store employees confirmed that the female in custody was the thief. Police discovered a passport and identification upon the arrestee. It was learned that the subject also had several outstanding warrants out of other jurisdictions in southeast Michigan. The woman was lodged in the Monroe County Jail and faces charges of retail fraud and resisting and obstructing police.
