Last night, the Dundee Fire Fighters Benevolent Association gathered for our annual Old Timers Dinner, honoring the generations of members who have dedicated their time and service to our organization and community.

This year was especially meaningful as we celebrated 45 years of the Dundee Fire Fighters Benevolent Association. Thank you to all of our past and present members for helping make this organization what it is today. Here’s to 45 years of fellowship, service, and tradition!

Today we have an unusual record, not from a Yates County agency. This negative dated 1890 is believed to show 4 men from the Rochester Fire Dept. Based on the original handwritten negative sleeve, the men are believed to be James Malcolm, Samuel Bemish, and two others identified only as Boone? and Jophem? (both identifications are uncertain). We have not confirmed the identities of the men or the exact location.

James Malcolm served the Rochester Fire Department for an impressive 51 years, retiring in 1903.

We'd love your help! If you recognize any of the individuals, can identify the building, or have additional information about this photograph, please share it in the comments. Every clue helps us better document these historic images. Rochester Fire Department

From the Tom Disbrow/Glen Miller collection, we’re sharing these slides of the Yates County Fire Training Center, located at what is now the Yates County Fairgrounds. The building can be clearly identified by the red lettering on the side reading “Yates County Fire Training Center.”

Did you ever attend training here? We’d love to hear your memories—share them in the comments.

Continuing cataloging the Tom Disbrow / Glen Miller collection of negatives, we have these slides from the Bellona Fire Department. If you recognize anyone in the photos, please drop a comment and help us preserve the history by putting names with the faces.

History is heading to the auction block!

This 1919 Ford American LaFrance is a twin to the one the Dundee Fire Company bought new in 1919 for $2,000. While Dundee’s original truck has been "lost to history," this survivor shows us what it looked like patrolling the village over a century ago.

The truck on the right in the black and white photo is the only known surviving picture of Dundee's truck.
