Even if you only have an hour, you still knock those doors (and put up signs for some great candidates).

31 days! How are you stepping up to impact this election?

✅ Transferable and refundable tax credits
✅ Foreign owned company with uncertain equity
✅ Approximately 1.2 billion dollars
✅ No guarantee that benefits will go to Iowans
✅ No guarantee this project will actually happen

Concerned? Me too. But that’s what was signed into law last night.

Economic development is important, but precedent for future investment and the financial security of Iowa should always be a consideration.

It’s disappointing this bill moved so fast and didn’t line up with what the White House announced. It’s almost like they’re trying to prop up candidates in a close election year.

Rep. Elinor A. Levin’s remarks on the steel mill project are spot on. Economic development and job creation are fantastic, but there must be safeguards in place to ensure Iowans aren’t left holding the bag if this goes sour.

Additionally, the manner in which this proposal is being rushed through (right before the midterms in a competitive US House seat no less) is also suspect. Good government involves input from impacted parties, but that’s not how this has gone down.

Getting older shouldn’t mean being forced out of the community you call home.

You deserve to age in place with dignity.

We don’t need more “yes men” in the State Legislature.

We need legislators with the vision and gumption to fight for rural Iowa - even if that means standing up to their own party.

Water quality. Public education. Rural healthcare. Local control. Economic prosperity. Property rights.

These are the issues that matter to our communities. They’re also areas where the majority party has failed to deliver time and time again.

It’s time for a new path.

Early voting starts October 14th. Election Day is November 3rd. Make a plan to vote for Benjamin Schauer for House District 15.

I moved a lot as a kid. I came to Iowa from Oklahoma when I was a teenager and then moved to Western Iowa 10 years ago for a teaching position. What I thought would be a 2 year stint has turned into nearly 11 years in this amazing community.

I don’t have generational ties to any community, but I’ve built something here that means just as much: a life, career, friendships, and roots that grow deeper every single day.

Prior to Dunlap, I never would have called anywhere "home,” but this community welcomed me, allowed me to serve it faithfully, and gave me a sense of belonging.

This is the power of community. Home isn’t just where you’re born - sometimes it’s the place that you choose to stay and put down roots.

That’s why I'm running this race. I want to give back to the community (and the many others like it) that have poured so much into me and made me feel truly at home for the first time in my life.

Western Iowa has so much to offer, and I want to make it place where people can find opportunity, put down roots (new or old), and build a life of their own - just like I have.

I talk a lot about joy and hope and the importance staying grounded in it.

As a candidate, I try to listen more than I speak. I listen because the world is heavy, and folks deserve the space to be heard, process, and feel like their voices actually matter.

That’s why joy and hope are a central part of my campaign.

Yes, campaigns are about the issues, but they’re also about the future we’re trying to build and inspiring others to also take up that mantle of shaping the world we want to live in.

This is why I will always choose joy and why I share so many joyful moments from this journey. Joy is contagious, and out of it shoots hope for a better tomorrow.
