*******SCAM ALERT*******

The Dunlap Police Department has learned of a potential scam involving text messages being sent out by individuals posing as local church leadership. These messages include urgent requests for green dot cards to be purchased. These texts may appear convincing, but they are NOT legitimate requests.

If you or a loved one have fallen victim to a scam similar to this, please contact The Dunlap Police Department via telephone at (423)949-3319 or call non-emergency to our E911 dispatch center at (423)949-9912.

*****Public Service Announcement*****

The City of Dunlap is aware of a private individual's social media post several days ago that simply stated "Reports are coming in of an individual urinating on the playground equipment at Harris Park last night." The City never received any official complaint or report of any such incident, and after a short investigation into the situation based on this very limited information, the City cannot confirm that the alleged incident actually occurred.
Nonetheless, and out of an abundance of caution, City Officials conducted a brief inspection of the Harris Park playground, and found no reason to either close or otherwise limit the use of the playground. Further, it is extremely important to note that any concerned citizens, who legitimately witness or suspect that any vandalism, destruction, or defacing of City of Dunlap property occurred, should contact the City of Dunlap or the Dunlap Police Department. When such incidents are timely and properly reported directly to the appropriate officials, the City is much better able to appropriately respond to such incidents. Thank you.
