The Durand Fire Department is entrusted with protecting the lives and property of the citizens of this city.

It is a huge responsibility that we all take very seriously. When a new firefighter joins the department, they begin with 160 hours of intense instruction. That is followed up with at least 32 hours of additional in-house training every year. In addition to fighting fires, the Durand Fire Department also conducts fire safety training at the schools at least once a year. We also spend most of our fire department time maintaining the fire hall and all the equipment that we depend on to do our job.

🚨 TRAINING TOMORROW🚨

Please avoid the area around 9450 Lennon Rd (in front of Waste Management) if possible while our live burn training exercise is taking place.

If you must travel through the area, please use caution, expect emergency vehicles and increased traffic, and allow extra time for your route.

Today, Sergeant Scott and Firefighter DeMars are representing Durand Fire Department with Neighbors United as we honor the 25th anniversary of 9/11.

Today, we remember the 343 firefighters who made the ultimate sacrifice at the World Trade Center, as well as the thousands of firefighters who answered the call that day and have since lost their lives to cancer.

We walk for those who never came home, those who answered the call, and the families who continue to carry their loss.

25 years later, we remember. We honor. We will .

We are incredibly proud of the dedication and hard work they have put in throughout the academy. Between attending class several nights each week, working their day jobs, studying outside of class, and continuing to train with the department, they have shown an outstanding commitment to serving our community.

Check out the probationary firefighters throughout the county hard at work in the academy. DFD currently has three firefighters in the academy. They’ve been putting in a lot of time, effort, and dedication while learning valuable skills and preparing for the job ahead.

We’re incredibly proud of the work they’ve put in so far and excited to see them finish up soon. Their hard work and commitment are already showing, and we can’t wait to see them continue growing as members of the DFD family. Keep up the great work!
