The Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma hosted a special screening of “Stickball: The Little Brother of War” on May 30 at Choctaw Casino & Resort–Durant.
The documentary by Choctaw filmmaker, Mark Williams, explores the rich history and modern-day significance of Native stickball, bringing together featured players, coaches, cultural leaders and media to experience a story deeply rooted in tradition and identity. It also shines a spotlight on Tvhshkahomma Ohoyo (Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma women’s team) and the intensity of their rivalry with Koni Hatta, showing the passion, pride and competitive spirit behind the game.
