🚧 Traffic Update – West Arkansas Street 🚧

Contract crews continue work on the water line relocation project along West Arkansas Street.

🚦 West Arkansas St. will be reduced to one lane from S 22nd Ave. to Radio Rd. Monday through Thursday while construction is underway. Motorists should expect minor delays and are encouraged to plan for additional travel time when traveling through the area.

Please use caution, follow all traffic control devices, and remain alert for workers and equipment in the construction zone. Slowing down and staying attentive helps keep everyone safe.

Whether your design celebrates Durant, highlights local history, showcases Oklahoma pride, or simply spreads a little joy, we want to see your vision!

The City of Durant is proud to launch our Hometown Heroes Banner Program, an opportunity to recognize and honor the brave men and women who have served our country.

We want to honor all veterans and are excited to provide a lasting tribute that celebrates their service and sacrifice throughout our city. These banners will serve as a visible reminder of the courage, dedication, and commitment of our local heroes.

Veteran banners are available for $125 and will be displayed as part of the City of Durant’s Hometown Heroes program.

📋 Durant by Design is underway!

The City of Durant is taking an important step toward the future by updating its zoning and subdivision regulations to better support growth, encourage investment, and align with the community vision outlined in Envision Durant 2040.

As Durant continues to grow, these updates will help guide development, improve planning processes, and ensure our community is prepared for the opportunities ahead.

🚧 Traffic Alert 🚧

Beginning this week, University Boulevard will undergo intersection rehabilitation and minor street mill-and-overlay work from 6th Avenue to Bryan Drive.

As part of this project, the intersections at 7th Avenue and 12th Avenue will be temporarily closed for concrete rehabilitation. Other areas along University Boulevard will be reduced to one lane or may require temporary traffic rerouting.

Please plan for additional travel time, use caution in work zones, and follow all posted traffic control signs.

This work will be completed by contractors as part of ongoing infrastructure improvements.

🚧 Heads Up, Durant! 🚧

City crews will be repairing a water leak tomorrow morning, and the northbound lane of S. 13th Ave. between Arkansas St. and Main St. will be temporarily closed during the repair process.

Please plan for possible delays and use caution if traveling through the area. Alternate routes are encouraged when possible.

We appreciate the community’s patience as crews work to complete the repair safely and efficiently. Updates will be provided once the work is complete and the lane has reopened.

♻️ Holiday Trash Service Update ♻️

Residential trash service scheduled for Monday, May 25th will be picked up on Wednesday, May 27th.

Please have your poly carts set out Tuesday evening, May 26th, for Wednesday morning pickup.

We are so thankful for everything Cindy has done for the City and for the people around her throughout the years. Her kindness, dedication, hard work, and friendship have made a lasting impact on so many, and we are truly grateful for the time we’ve shared with her.

While we are excited for Cindy as she begins this new chapter, there is no doubt she will be greatly missed by everyone who has had the pleasure of working alongside her.
