We are incredibly grateful to everyone who joined us at the courthouse on October 2 for our annual Reading of the Names event, honoring those who lost their lives to domestic violence over the past year.
The names were read by Durham Police Chief Mardis, Assistant District Attorney Monica Burnette, and DCRC Executive Director Shana Carignan. Each name represents a life lost, a family forever changed, and a reminder of why this work matters so much.
Thank you to all of our community partners who showed up in solidarity, including Stand Up Speak Out NC, Shining Light in the Darkness, the Durham Police Department, the Durham District Attorney’s Office, the Durham Sheriff’s Office, Legal Aid of North Carolina, the many courthouse staff who joined us, and others.
We remember. We honor. And we remain committed to working together to end domestic violence in our community. ❤️
