Durham Professional Firefighters

We recently said goodbye to Devon Skerry after 8 years of service to the Town of Durham. The Durham Professional Firefighters Association said a sad farewell to Devon who resigned from the organization after workplace injuries sustained in service to our community. During his time, Devon showed strong leadership caring for the public, our members, and firefighters across the region. Devon was instrumental in the formation of our department’s mental health consultation program while working to assist other firefighters as a member of the peer support team.

We wish Devon the best in his next chapter.

The Durham Professional Firefighters IAFF 2253 were recognized by President Kelly and District Vice President Colbert on 50 years of union membership. We are proud to be part of this great organization which works tirelessly to promote health, safety, and training initiatives for firefighters across the United State and Canada.

With Christmas only a short time away, the members of L2253 would like to thank everyone who supported the Durham Professional Firefighters Toy Bank. This year, we were able to assist 50 children from 15 families and donate the remaining toys to other area departments in need. This program would not be possible without the help of everyone in our community and beyond. L2253 would also like to extend our sincere appreciation to the members whose hard work and commitment helped make this program such a success.
