Your UNH PD has had a very busy and exciting month. Last week, we had the privilege of swearing in our new Police Chief, David K. Hobbs, Jr. And today, we had the privilege of swearing in our newest Investigator, Brant Dolleman. Chief Hobbs is a retired police chief from the Town of Hampton and recently served as the police chief for Northern Essex Community College.

Investigator Dolleman recently retired from the City of Dover after serving 27 years with the Dover Police Department, largely as a Lieutenant and commander of investigations. He will be serving our department as an Intelligence Liaison Officer with the NH Intelligence and Analysis Center.

In Compliance with the Jeanne Clery Act the UNH Police is issuing a timely warning to the campus community for a motor vehicle theft and theft of two electric scooters to help prevent similar crimes from occurring.

On September 28,2026 at 4:15pm UNH responded for a report of a stolen motor vehicle (Grey Chevrolet Trax). The vehicle was taken between 9/27/26 6pm and 9/28/26 2pm. The keys were with the vehicle. The vehicle was later recovered in another town.

On October 5, 2026, UNH Police responded to two reports for stolen electric scooters. The first report was at 2:45 pm and the reporting party advised their scooter was stolen from the Philbrook bike rack on 10/5/26 at 2:30pm. It is a black Leqismart electric scooter with a Mega Wheels sticker on the stem of the scooter.

The second report of a stolen electric scooter was received 10/5/26 at 5:15pm. It was taken on 10/5/26 between 1pm and 5pm from Jessie Doe Hall bike rack. It is a black Hi-Boy KS4

If you have any information on these scooter thefts, please contact UNH Police at 603-862-1427. Report the theft of your property without delay.

Here are some tips to help keep your property safe on campus:

Always lock your vehicle and take your keys with you.

Secure your scooter: Always use a high-quality U-lock or chain lock to secure your electric scooter to a fixed bike rack.

Many scooters look similar: put an identifying sticker or tag on your scooter to help identify it.

If you haven’t done so yet, register your scooter with UNH Transportation at https://www.unh.edu/transportation/micromobility-registration

Today, Durham Police teamed up with our partners at the University of New Hampshire Police to enforce eScooter, bicycle, and pedestrian safety and take action against violations and unsafe travel behavior. During the operation, officers addressed 30 eScooter violations, 3 bicycle violations, 1 motor vehicle stop, and about a dozen pedestrian contacts.

Violations addressed included riding the wrong way against traffic on a one-way street, riding on the sidewalk, and other unsafe actions. We've been listening to public concerns and comments regarding eScooter and bicycle operation throughout town, and today was the first of many planned, targeted enforcement efforts.

A reminder: eScooters must be registered! Information is available under the police section of www.durhamnh.gov. Rules of the road apply; and if you are under 16, Durham Town Ordinances prohibit you from operating an eScooter in any fashion on public property.
