ICYMI: Two B-1 Lancers brought a different kind of horsepower to the skies over Austin ahead of the F1 race last weekend.

As Washington State University football fans gathered to cheer on the Cougars, the roar of the crowd was met by a different kind of thunder from above as a U.S. Air Force C-130J Super Hercules soared over the stadium, giving fans a glimpse of the airpower and precision that define the 317th Airlift Wing at Dyess Air Force Base.

But the experience began well before the aircraft took to the skies. WSU ROTC cadets had the opportunity to tour the aircraft and engage in discussion with the crew, some being WSU alumni, with topics ranging from career field pathways to the transition from cadets to active-duty officers.

While the flyover lasted only moments, the preparation behind it reflected the dedication, teamwork and expertise our Airmen demonstrate every day.

For the fans below, it was an unforgettable game-day moment. For our Airmen, it was another opportunity to demonstrate the pride and professionalism they bring to every mission.

After four years on duty, Tank is officially off the clock.

Military Working Dog Tank closed out his Air Force career with a final radio call, a retirement ceremony and a well-earned celebration with his 7th Security Forces Squadron teammates. Alongside his handler, Staff Sgt. Christopher Barraza, Tank supported the mission and helped protect the Dyess Air Force Base community.

Thank you for your service, Tank. Enjoy retirement!

For Airman First Class John Michael Caseja, maintenance is more than turning wrenches — it is an opportunity to learn, solve problems and serve as part of something larger than himself.

As a 317th Maintenance Squadron aerospace propulsion apprentice, Caseja takes pride in troubleshooting complex engine issues and helps keep aircraft ready for the mission.

Lastly, he believes readiness starts with people: taking care of yourself, supporting your teammates and making sure no Airman is left behind.

Dyess honorary commanders visited the installation for a firsthand look at how the 7th Mission Support Group sustains the installation’s mission. Through demonstrations of emergency response, security and specialized equipment, the tour highlighted the Airmen whose expertise helps keep the base ready to execute global strike operations.

Preparing for the future of long-range strike.

Military leaders, defense industry representatives and civic partners came together in Abilene for the B-21 Summit to discuss what it takes to prepare Dyess AFB for the next generation of bomber operations.

From infrastructure and workforce development to supporting Airmen and their families, the summit reinforced the importance of strong military-community partnerships while sustaining today’s combat readiness.

Together, Team Dyess and Abilene are building the foundation for the future B-21 Raider mission.

Last week, During Fire Prevention Week, Oct. 5–10, 2026, the 7th Civil Engineer Squadron Fire Department celebrated Fire Prevention Week by connecting with Airmen, families and the veteran community across Dyess Air Force Base through hands-on fire safety education.

From visits with Sparky the Fire Dog at the Child Development Center and Youth Center to fire-truck demonstrations, firefighters taught practical ways to prevent home fires and respond in an emergency situation.

These events strengthened fire safety awareness and emergency preparedness across the installation while helping maintain a safe, ready community.

7th CMS aircrew egress Airmen slash B-1B Lancer downtime with new "Golden Seats" initiative.

By building and fully testing four backup ejection seats ahead of time, the team can now instantly swap them out during repairs.

This simple change slashes the time a bomber is grounded from over a month to under two weeks.

This innovative logistics model ensures maximum quality control while keeping our global strike fleet combat-ready.

Airmen from the 21st Air Task Force were greeted by their families and friends upon returning to Dyess Air Force Base after completing a five-month deployment across the Pacific.

Working alongside other branches, foreign militaries and humanitarian groups, the ATF tested and proved its ability to rapidly organize, adapt and project capabilities anywhere or anytime.

Building the Fight, One Task at a Time

Airmen from the 21st Combat Air Base Squadron worked across Guam to clear and restore landing zones, prepare facilities, review K-Span electrical plans and remodel dorms.

Working alongside the 513th Expeditionary RED HORSE and 356th Prime BEEF Expeditionary Squadron, they strengthened infrastructure and interoperability while preparing for future Pacific Air Forces Agile Combat Employment exercises and contingency operations.
