Eagan Police Officers provided Active Assailant Response Training to staff at Great Oaks Academy Charter School. This training follows standard response protocols used in more than 78,000 schools across the United States. Our officers regularly offer this training to school staff and local businesses, helping strengthen safety and preparedness throughout our community. Our officers are knowledgeable, passionate, and deeply committed to keeping all our public and private schools safe for students every day.

Today is Minnesota Fallen Firefighters Memorial Day. On behalf of the Eagan Police Department, we want to thank the Eagan Fire Department and every firefighter across this state - the ones who show up when it's a house fire, a car wreck, a medical call, whatever it is - for the job they do and the risk they carry doing it.

We also remember the Minnesota firefighters who gave their lives in the line of duty. Their families and departments carry that loss every day, not just today.

To the men and women of Eagan Fire and every department across Minnesota: thank you for your service. We salute you.

K9 Lloyd is halfway through K9 school!

Lloyd and his handler have been busy learning fi***rm detection, obedience, tracking, apprehension, and more. Lloyd will be a dual‑purpose K9, trained in both patrol and detection. He is expected to be ready for duty by November!

CITIZEN LIFESAVING AWARDS

We were honored to recognize three remarkable citizens at last evening’s Eagan City Council meeting.

Oliver Boyce, Thomas Quiwonkpa, and Trino Segovia II received the Citizen Lifesaving Award for their courageous actions on June 29, 2026.

Following a serious crash, the three men came upon a vehicle engulfed in flames with a person trapped inside. Tragically, the driver of the vehicle did not survive, and our thoughts are with their family. Without hesitation, the three men took action, pulling the passenger from the burning vehicle. He continues to fight for his life, but because of Oliver, Thomas, and Trino, he was given that chance.

Their willingness to step into a dangerous situation to help someone in need made the difference between tragedy and survival.

Please join us in recognizing Oliver, Thomas, and Trino for their extraordinary courage and selfless actions.

Their actions reflect the very best of our values: Honor. Courage. Excellence.

👮‍♀️ Celebrating the Women of the Eagan Police Department

September 12 is National Police Woman Day, and we’re proud to recognize the women who serve our department and our community every day.

Today, the Eagan Police Department is fortunate to have 15 sworn female officers and 11 female professional staff members serving in a wide variety of roles.

Whether responding to calls, investigating cases, supporting victims, connecting with our community, or working behind the scenes to keep our department running, these women bring professionalism, compassion, leadership, and dedication to everything they do.

We’re grateful for the 26 incredible women who are an important part of our Eagan Police Department team.

Please join us in recognizing and thanking them for all they do for Eagan! 💙

Twenty-five years ago today, our nation stood still.

We remember the nearly 3,000 lives lost on September 11, 2001 – mothers, fathers, sons, daughters, friends, and neighbors. We remember the 343 firefighters and 72 law enforcement officers who gave their lives answering the call to help others. And we remember the countless families and communities forever changed that morning.

That day, our nation came together in a way that transcended every difference that divided us. Today, we ask our community to pause alongside us, reflect, and remember.

SRO 'Detective Dan' is looking forward to building more 'Connect'-ions with his students this year. A friendly Black Hawk reminder to be 'Calm, Kind, & Safe' while driving around school zones and busses this school year.
