🚨 MAVERICK COUNTY MEETS WITH FEMA AND TDEM TO COORDINATE DISASTER RECOVERY EFFORTS!
Maverick County representatives participated in a Recovery Scoping Meeting on Thursday, October 22, 2026, with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM), and BDO representatives to discuss recovery efforts following the recent federal disaster declaration related to severe weather that impacted the region.
Representing Maverick County were Solid Waste Authority General Manager Mike Castillo, Planning Director Oscar Garza, Veterans Service Officer and Emergency Management Coordinator Miguel Chavez, and County Grant Administrator Isaak Ruiz.
The meeting focused on FEMA’s Public Assistance Program under Disaster Declaration DR-4935-TX, which covers the incident period of July 12 through August 4, 2026. Discussions included identifying and documenting disaster-related damages, reviewing potential reimbursement eligibility, coordinating site inspections, and establishing timelines for submitting projects for federal disaster assistance.
Through this process, Maverick County will continue working closely with FEMA, TDEM, and their recovery partners to evaluate damages to eligible public infrastructure and facilities, identify potential recovery projects, and pursue available federal assistance to support restoration efforts.
These meetings are an important part of the disaster recovery process, helping ensure that damages are properly documented, funding requirements are understood, and eligible recovery projects can move forward.
Maverick County remains committed to coordinating with state and federal agencies, pursuing available disaster recovery resources, and protecting the public infrastructure and essential services our residents depend on.
