Help bring water education to more Colorado students!

Colorado Project WET connects educators, water experts, and community partners to help young people learn about water through hands-on, science-based activities. Its lessons are designed for pre-K through high school and connect learning to Colorado’s watersheds and water challenges.

Educators and community partners can get involved, and a free facilitator training is coming up in Grand Junction on October 22 for the Colorado River Basin.

Working Lands Monday | Check your fences before winter

A fall fence check can help you identify maintenance needs before winter. Look for loose wires or damaged posts, and note areas where livestock or wildlife move through. These observations can help you plan ahead for the season.

🌿 Working Lands Monday

Fall is a valuable time to evaluate invasive weeds across your property.

Take note of where weeds appeared this season, remove remaining seed heads when appropriate, and make a plan for next year’s treatment. Keeping records can help you monitor changes and determine which management methods are working.

Consistent attention now can protect forage, wildlife habitat, and the long-term health of your land.

🌼 W**d ’Em and Reap: Scentless Chamomile

Spot it by its white daisy-like flowers and finely divided, fern-like leaves. It can irritate or cause blistering around the muzzles of livestock, although animals often avoid it.

🌱 How to remove it:

Hand-pull or dig small patches before seeds develop. Bag flowering plants, place them in the trash, and monitor for new growth.
