Senior Speaker Series: Week 1️⃣0️⃣ of 1️⃣4️⃣

TOMORROW, WE’RE HITTING THE ROAD!! 🚌

The Senior Speaker Series is trading our usual Friday morning gathering for a special tour of two of Madison County’s beautiful covered bridges!

This tour is provided by the Madison County Chamber of Commerce, and we’re excited to enjoy a morning of local history, scenic views, and good company.

🚌 Bus boards at 10 AM
📍 North side of Bricker-Price Block
🏡 Expected return at 12 PM
🎟️ Free and open to the public. No registration required!

A quick note for those joining us: Guests will need to be able to get on and off the bus and walk short distances to reach the bridges. We’ll have folks available to help with boarding and exiting the bus.

Please arrive a few minutes early so we can get everyone aboard and on our way!

Senior Speaker Series: Week 9️⃣ of 1️⃣4️⃣

Have you ever wondered how the famous Iowa State Fair Butter Cow comes to life? Join us this Friday, 10/16 at 10 AM for a special presentation with Sarah Pratt, Iowa’s current State Fair butter sculptor!

Sarah will share the history of butter sculpting, how this beloved Iowa tradition began, and stories from her own journey from apprentice to artist.

But this isn’t just a presentation you’ll sit and listen to! During the second half of the program, you’ll get to try your hand at butter sculpting yourself. With a stick of butter and a little guidance from Sarah, participants will create their own sculptures to contribute to a collaborative work of art: Our “Butter” Community! 🧈

The hours of work that happen before the first guest walks through the door. The planning, prepping, setting up, problem-solving, and all the little things that make a night like this feel effortless.

Chef Jessica Baldus crafted a beautiful six-course menu that celebrated the flavors of the season and showcased the incredible ingredients and talent found right here in Iowa.
