Some days stand out for everyone involved in child welfare, and last Friday’s Central Jersey Youth Conference was one of those special days. Each year, the NJ Family Court joins with the New Jersey Department of Children and Families, New Jersey Office of the Public Defender and Law Guardian, and community partners like CASA of Middlesex County, CASA SHaW, Coordinated Family Care, United Way of Central Jersey UWCJ, Karma Foundation, and many others to organize a day for youth ages 15 and up. The goal is to give adolescents support as they get ready to age out of foster care.
We are grateful to our motivational speaker, Roy Leitstein, and to all the organizations that gave presentations and set up tables with community resources. Thanks to our donors and supporters, we ended the day with a raffle where every participant won a prize. The youth had a fantastic day, proving that when we come together for our most vulnerable, great things can happen.
