After Halloween, choose to compost your pumpkins! Flood Brothers Disposal & Recycling Services again will offer pumpkin recycling for LITH residents.

Pumpkin composting containers will be placed at Sunset Park and 600 E. Oak Street from Oct. 30 to Nov. 13.

Composting pumpkins prevents them from producing potent greenhouse gases like methane in landfills and transforms them into nutrient-rich soil for gardens. Thanks for helping the environment! 😍

October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month.

This month, we recognize the contributions of people with disabilities in our workforce and recognize the importance of creating opportunities for everyone to be successful.

That’s why I introduced HB 1145, legislation that would provide a state income tax credit to businesses that hire people with developmental disabilities.

Everyone deserves the opportunity to contribute, build a career, and achieve greater independence. By supporting employers who open their doors to more workers, we contribute to building a more inclusive workforce in Illinois.
