Each year, members of the East Marion Fire Department join with other local departments to proudly participate in the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers 5K in New York City.

Yesterday, our members once again had the honor of taking part, retracing the footsteps of FDNY Firefighter Stephen Siller and honoring all those who made the ultimate sacrifice on September 11, 2001.

Earlier this week, members of the East Marion Fire Department’s New Ladder Truck Committee traveled to the Ferrara Fire Apparatus factory in Louisiana to finalize the drawings and specifications for our new ladder truck.

The visit gave committee members the opportunity to meet directly with the engineers involved in designing and building the apparatus, tour the manufacturing facility, and see firsthand the process that goes into building a new fire truck from the ground up.

It was a valuable experience for the committee and an important step in ensuring our new ladder truck is designed to best meet the needs of our department and the community we serve.

A special thank you to our dealer, Hendrickson Fire Rescue Equipment, and everyone at Ferrara Fire Apparatus for their hospitality, expertise, and assistance throughout the process.

We look forward to sharing more updates as our new ladder truck moves closer to becoming a reality!
