☀️🐾 Lunch with a View at Paul V. Fly! 💙🍂

What a beautiful day to enjoy lunch outside! 🌳🍎 We're excited about our new picnic tables and outdoor lunch grove, where students have the opportunity to earn a special lunch outside with their friends as part of this month's PBIS reward!

Today, Dr. Smith had the pleasure of enjoying lunch with an amazing group of fourth graders! Great food, wonderful conversations, lots of smiles, and some beautiful sunshine made for a perfect afternoon! ☀️

We love finding new ways to recognize our students, celebrate their positive choices, and create special memories together! Keep up the great work, PVF Pandas! Keep earning those special opportunities and Flying with PRIDE! 🐼💙

We are so excited for our event tomorrow night! We hope to see you there!

The 2nd Grade PVF Pandas are growing more than just a garden! Our students had an amazing time planting a pollinator garden and learning about the important role pollinators play in our environment. This hands-on experience connects beautifully to our 2nd grade Carolina Science program and brings our classroom learning to life!

A huge thank you to Journeywork and Ms. Paige for making this wonderful experience possible and helping our Pandas learn, explore, and grow!

We can’t wait to watch our garden bloom!

Kindergarteners are learning about different kinds of weather in science. They did an experiment to test their guesses about why a telephone pole might only be wet on one side after it rains. They created their own hypotheses and drew them in their science notebooks. They did the experiment in small groups, by working together to tape up the “telephone pole” and spray the “rain” onto it from above. They recorded what happened in their notebooks, and then added a fan which acted as wind. They drew a picture of their final conclusions after this, and learned it was because it was raining and windy!

Thank you to author Alyssa Reynoso-Morris for joining us today as we celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month by spreading love and language. All Pandas had a chance to listen to one of her stories and engage with the text. We are so excited to add your wonderful books to our library to continue learning about your culture and for all of our students to read! 📚🐼💙

🐼📚💙 Building a Love of Reading at Home! 💙📚🐼

What a wonderful morning at Paul V. Fly! Today, we welcomed our families for our “Building a Book Bin” Family Literacy Workshop, where parents and caregivers explored simple ways to encourage a love of reading at home!

One of the highlights of the morning was when a first-grade student asked, “Why should we read 20 minutes a day?” Our superintendent, Dr. Green, eagerly joined the conversation and offered a wonderful explanation! He compared our brain to a muscle, explaining that just as exercise helps our muscles grow stronger, reading helps strengthen our brains. 🧠💪📖 It was a special moment that highlighted the curiosity of our students and the importance of encouraging a love of reading from an early age!

A special thank you to Dr. Green for joining us this morning, to Michelle DeMeno, Sarah Lowry, and Kathy Phillabaum for organizing and leading this valuable workshop, and to all our families who attended!

💙 Together, we're building strong readers and lifelong learners, one book at a time!
