City of East Providence Parks Division The mission of the East Providence Parks Division is to develop and maintain safe and enjoyable park The crews are supervised by two lead workers.

The Parks Division is managed by Superintendent Tony Lucio Vieira, who report to the Director of Public Works. Grounds maintenance at parks, public buildings and athletic fields is provided by six landscape laborers and three drivers/equipment operators. Our urban forest is sustained by two, Rhode Island -licensed Arborists. Park playground equipment, shelters, structures, signage and other amenities are installed and maintained by a landscape construction/repair specialist. Customer service for all division services is provided by our clerk.

Today parks department was busy planting mums around the new City of East Providence police station sign.

After the new sign was installed, our Parks team also relocated the existing plants that surrounded the old sign to the island in front of City Hall, giving them a new home and adding some extra greenery to the area.

A little rain won’t slow us down! 🌧️💪

Our Parks crew is out today grinding stumps and tackling another round of maintenance work across the City. Rain or shine, our crews are hard at work keeping East Providence safe and well maintained.

Not every project requires cones and road closures, sometimes it’s the smaller improvements happening every day that make a big difference in our community!

Today, our talented Parks Division staff worked on wood finish and reclaiming for several benches to be installed at Silver Spring Playground.

It’s another example of the behind-the-scenes work our DPW crews take on every day, taking care of what we have and making our public spaces better, one project at a time!

Our Parks Division does a lot more than just maintain our City’s parks and playgrounds. Each week, our crews are also out mowing, trimming and landscaping at City buildings and other public properties residents use every day.

It’s routine work that often happens behind the scenes, but it makes a big difference in keeping our public spaces clean, welcoming and well maintained as Fall moves in.

A big thank you to our Parks team for the work they put in across the City every day!
