HAPPY 50TH ANNIVERSARY, WEST PARISH!

What an amazing evening last night at the West Parish Family School 50th Anniversary Gala and Fundraiser at the Cotuit Center for the Arts in Barnstable!

I was blessed and proud to surprise them with a citation from the Massachusetts House of Representatives recognizing 50 years of teaching, learning, changing lives, and making a difference across generations.

It was great seeing so many wonderful friends, especially Adam Hogue and his wife, Lia, and my good friends Chris Lauzon and his wife, Christina. These couples are always out there helping others, and it was great to see them supporting such a special cause!

The goal now is to build a beautiful new school for future generations, and I look forward to sharing more about that effort.

I’m blessed to know these wonderful people and to have such a special school right here in our Great Fightin’ Fifth District, in my own home village of West Barnstable, just two miles from where I live!

Congratulations on 50 years of changing lives and making a difference. HERE’S TO THE NEXT 50 YEARS!

God bless West Parish Church and everyone who makes it so special!

One of the best parts of the morning was seeing wives, husbands, children, family members, and friends proudly pinning their loved ones. The pride and emotion in that room were something special. Behind every firefighter is a family that serves and sacrifices right alongside them.

COMM Fire District will always hold a special place in my heart. They were among the first responders who did everything they could to save my friend and brother in blue, Yarmouth Police Sergeant Sean Gannon. They also responded during the tragic loss of another brother in blue, Yarmouth Police Officer Brad Erickson. I will never forget their efforts during those heartbreaking days here in Barnstable County.

We are fortunate to have these dedicated men and women protecting our communities. Thank you to Chief Patrick Hill and his entire team for their leadership and service. It was also great to join my colleague, State Representative Kip Diggs, at the podium.

Congratulations to everyone recognized, and THANK YOU for everything you do to keep our communities safe!

Have a wonderful, sunny Saturday, everyone. God bless!

Great to be out at the football field with the DEA, Cape Cod law enforcement, and the Barnstable High School Red Hawks supporting RED RIBBON WEEK, October 23–31!

Red Ribbon Week is the nation’s oldest and largest drug prevention awareness campaign. It began in memory of DEA Special Agent Enrique “Kiki” Camarena, who was murdered in 1985 while fighting drug trafficking.

Today, the red ribbon reminds us of the importance of living drug-free and educating our young people about the dangers of drugs, fentanyl, and counterfeit pills.

A SPECIAL THANK YOU TO DAWN ROCHE for bringing everyone together again this year in memory of her son, Trevor, who tragically lost his life to fentanyl poisoning. Dawn continues to honor Trevor by raising awareness and helping educate others in hopes of saving lives. My heart goes out to Dawn and her family, and I thank her for everything she does to help protect our kids.

It takes all of us working together, families, schools, law enforcement, and our communities, to educate our young people and keep them safe.

Proud to be part of this important effort right here on Cape Cod. THANK YOU to everyone who continues to make a difference!

WE REMEMBER.
They Came In Peace

October 23, 1983 | Beirut, Lebanon

At 6:22 this morning, 43 years ago, our nation suffered one of the darkest days in Marine Corps and military history.

A terrorist truck bombing at the U.S. Marine barracks in Beirut took the lives of 241 American servicemen, including 220 Marines, 18 sailors, and 3 soldiers. These brave Americans were serving as peacekeepers, far from home, when their lives were taken in an instant. Fifty-eight French servicemen were also killed in a separate bombing that morning.

Some of the Marines who survived that horrific day are my friends. I think of them, their courage, and the brothers they lost. The memories never fade, and the cost of service is never forgotten.

As a Marine Corps Gold Star father, I know that behind every fallen service member is a family whose life is forever changed. Today, my heart is with the Gold Star families of Beirut. Their loved ones will always be remembered, honored, and loved.

We owe these heroes more than words. We owe them our gratitude, our respect, and a promise to never forget their sacrifice.

Semper Fidelis. God bless our fallen heroes, their families, and all who continue to serve our great nation.

THANKFUL THURSDAY!
Honor Flight 2026

Tonight, I want to say THANK YOU to some very special people who made an incredible day possible for six Southport veterans from Mashpee!

These veterans took part in an Honor Flight to Washington, D.C., to visit the monuments honoring our veterans and those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our great country. They left home at 3 AM and returned around 3 AM the next morning. What a day!

First, a special mention of Sean Whelahan of 6A Tours in Sandwich. Sean was the one who put this trip together. It was originally scheduled a few weeks earlier but had to be postponed because of horrible weather. Sadly, Sean passed away a short time later.

Everyone had to regroup, figure things out, and find a way to make this trip happen for our veterans. And we did!

God bless Sean. I know he’d be proud to see these veterans make this special trip. He helped get it all started, and his efforts will not be forgotten.

A HUGE THANK YOU to the Mashpee Police Department for providing an incredible es**rt to the Sagamore Bridge and to the Cape Cod Regional Transit Authority for providing round-trip transportation to and from Logan Airport, ALL AT NO COST to the veterans!

A special THANK YOU to John F. Kennedy, Administrator of the Cape Cod Regional Transit Authority, for helping make this transportation possible, and to Dave Brown, who volunteered to drive everyone round-trip. Dave is a strong supporter of our armed forces, and this is the SECOND time he has volunteered for this event! Dave, thank you for stepping up once again for our veterans. God bless you!

Thank you also to Barbara from the Cape and Islands Veterans Outreach Center for her help and support, and to Dawn Roche, leader of Big Nick’s Ride for the Fallen and the Nicholas G. Xiarhos Memorial Fund, for her support of our veterans and this special effort.

And a special thank you to Margaret Ryan, a proud veteran and Chair of the Southport Veterans Committee, who organized the entire trip and helped bring everything together. Margaret, thank you for your dedication to our veterans!

The veterans were welcomed at Logan Airport by hundreds of flag-waving patriots and a brass band. In Washington, they visited our nation’s monuments and Arlington National Cemetery and witnessed the moving Changing of the Guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

But that’s not all!

The veterans also received nearly 100 handwritten notes and cards from students at Forestdale School in Sandwich. Think about that! Young students taking the time to write personal messages of appreciation to our veterans. That means something!

Thank you to the students and Principal Chris Dintino for making this happen. And thank you to everyone who helped make this trip so special.

This is what it’s all about. Cape Cod coming together to take care of our veterans and remind them how much we love and appreciate them.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE! WE LOVE YOU!

THE PEOPLE’S HOUSE!

Just getting home after a full day at the State House debating bills and amendments, meeting with constituents, and welcoming people from all over America, including visitors from as far away as Alaska and New Hampshire!

During the debates, I was involved in several efforts to save taxpayers money, including amendments involving the gas tax, offshore wind, and home heating oil. Unfortunately, we were outvoted and those amendments failed. More to come on this!

During breaks, I had the pleasure of showing visitors around this incredible building, including some new friends from the Middleborough area whom I met on a great community TV show on Monday. It was great seeing them again!

It was also great to see our State Auditor, Diana DiZoglio, who took the time to stop and say hello!

Remember, the People’s House is YOUR house! It’s open to the public and is an incredible, beautiful, and powerful building where important decisions are made that impact people across our Commonwealth.

As I walked out tonight to head home, I saw the blue light shining brightly at the State House, 24/7. It’s a powerful reminder of the sacrifices made by the men and women who serve, protect, and keep our communities safe every single day.

I thought I’d share a few pictures showing what goes on behind the scenes during a busy day at the State House.

God bless, and have a great and safe night!

GOOD MORNING, FIGHTIN’ FIFTH AND ALL!
K9 PLATES!

I love seeing all the K9 license plates out there. The more you look, the more you find! Over 5,000 have been ordered, and they’re starting to arrive. People are proudly displaying them, and it’s an incredible example of turning tragedy into triumph and pain into purpose.

It all started with the murder of my brother officer, Sean Gannon, a 32-year-old husband, a great police officer, and a New Bedford kid, just like me. That horrible day, a violent criminal took Sean’s life and shot his partner, Nero.

Since then, we’ve accomplished so much in Sean’s memory. We brought his killer to justice, passed Nero’s Law and Dakota’s Law, built the million-dollar K9 Sergeant Sean M. Gannon Training Center at Yarmouth PD, and we’re working to build a state-of-the-art K9 PTSD and rehabilitation center right here in Bourne. This past Sunday, we held our first-ever K9 5K road race and awards ceremony!

But one moment on Sunday is something I will never forget. Seeing Sean’s mom and dad receive the very first K9 license plate made in their son’s memory was hard to put into words.

Look at Mr. Gannon. Look into his eyes and imagine. Imagine the pride, the heartbreak, and the pain of missing his son every single day, while seeing Sean’s initials, SG, now traveling across the Commonwealth and helping other K9 heroes. There are no words that can take away that pain, but we can make sure Sean’s life, his service, and his sacrifice continue to make a difference.

Every plate has Nero on it and the initials SG for Sean Gannon. Every plate helps support the retired police and military K9s who have served and protected our Commonwealth and country.

A SPECIAL SHOUT-OUT TO JAMES LAMONTE! Thank you for your passion, dedication, and courage in helping make this all happen. You are an amazing person and an inspiration!

We miss Sean every single day. He should be out there working today with Nero. And in some way, he still is, continuing to make a difference and helping these four-legged heroes.

Look for those beautiful plates, and thank you to everyone who has ordered one and supports this mission!

Have a wonderful day. God bless!
