WINTER PARKING - BEGINS SOON !!
As we approach the winter season, the DeWitt Police Department would like to remind residents that overnight street parking restrictions are in effect from November 1st through April 1st, between 2:00 AM and 6:00 AM, throughout both the Town of DeWitt and Village of East Syracuse.
While these restrictions are important for keeping our roads safe, following them is also a simple way to show courtesy and appreciation to our hardworking Highway Department and DPW crews.
During snow events, our plow operators work long hours, often overnight, to keep our roads clear and safe for motorists. Vehicles parked along the roadway create unnecessary obstacles for these large plow trucks to navigate around. Not only does this make their job more difficult, but it also prevents them from properly clearing the roadway. Snow left behind around parked vehicles can create hazardous buildups that remain long after the vehicle has been moved and the plow has passed through.
Please do your part by keeping vehicles off the streets during restricted hours. A little cooperation goes a long way in helping our Highway and DPW crews work safely and efficiently while keeping our community's roads clear.
Remember: Vehicles parked on the street during restricted hours are subject to parking tickets. These tickets cost $20 each time, plus any applicable court surcharges.
Thank you for your cooperation, and a special thank you to the dedicated Highway Department and DPW employees who work tirelessly throughout the winter to keep our roads safe!
