Fire Commissioner Black and three junior firefighters took a bus trip today to the 9/11 Memorial and Museum, along with the surrounding area. During their visit, they learned about the events of September 11, 2001, the tremendous sacrifices made by the first responders, and the courage, bravery, and selflessness displayed by so many that day.

The trip provided a powerful opportunity to reflect on the history of that tragic day, honor the 343 firefighters who made the ultimate sacrifice, and recognize the lasting impact September 11th continues to have on the fire service and our nation.

Most importantly, they gained a greater appreciation for the responsibility that comes with wearing the uniform and the importance of carrying on the traditions of service, dedication, and brotherhood. We must never forget those we lost, and we must continue to teach the next generation what it means to serve.

Nor'easter Update from Eastampton Fire-Rescue

The storm isn't done with us yet. Wind and heavy rain will continue through today, and Burlington County remains under a State of Emergency.

A few reminders to keep your family safe:

• Never drive through flooded roads. Turn around.
• Stay far away from downed wires and treat every one as live.
• Run generators outside only, away from doors and windows.
• Check that your smoke and CO alarms are working.
• Report outages to your power company, not 911.

For any emergency, call 911. Our members are ready to respond.

⚠️ ACTIVE CALL: DOWNED POWER LINE ⚠️

Eastampton Fire-Rescue is currently on scene at W Railroad and Lake Dr for a downed power line. Please avoid the area and give crews room to work.

The photo shows exactly why we take these calls seriously. That glow in the grass is the line arcing and burning where it touches the ground. A downed line can stay energized, and it doesn't have to spark or buzz to be dangerous.

If you come across a downed line:
🚫 Stay at least 30 feet away, and keep kids and pets back
🚫 Never touch the line or anything it's touching, like a fence, car, or puddle
🚗 If a line falls on your car, stay inside unless there's a fire, and call 911
📞 Always call 911 and let us and the utility handle it

Thank you for helping keep our community and our members safe. 🚒

Fire Prevention Week starts Oct. 4, and this year it's all about the batteries already in your house. Three easy habits: use only the charger that came with the device, charge on a hard flat surface (not a bed or couch), and unplug once it's full. If a battery ever gets hot, swells, smells odd, or changes color, stop using it and get it outside. Questions about e-bikes or scooters? Ask us in the comments.

Thank you to the township for giving us the opportunity to train and practice skill sets on a house slated for demolition. These opportunities are important to keeping your firefighters ready for your emergencies.

Last night, crews practiced making doors from windows and roof operations for ventilation.
