🎉 The Planning Department is excited to announce that the City of Easthampton has received $5,203,800 in FY27 Community One Stop for Growth grant funding for three important projects:

💧 $4.9 million — MassWorks Infrastructure Program: Highway Business Water & Sewer
Funding will support replacement of undersized and deteriorating water and sewer infrastructure along the Northampton Street Corridor, helping remove capacity constraints and support the full buildout of Sierra Vista Commons plus additional mixed-use growth along the corridor.

🧭 $185,000 — Massachusetts Downtown Initiative Capital Grant: Wayfinding Implementation
Funding will support fabrication and installation of wayfinding signage throughout Downtown Easthampton, building on years of community planning and design work.

🏘️ $118,800 — Housing Choice Grant: Housing Production Plan
Funding will support an update to the City's Housing Production Plan and help identify opportunities to remove regulatory barriers and align housing policy with community priorities, infrastructure capacity, and environmental constraints.

We want to recognize and thank our colleagues and partners whose collaboration and prior planning efforts helped lay the groundwork for these successful applications, including Public Works Director Greg Nuttelman and City Engineer Diane Rossini-Smith, former Planning Director Jeff Bagg, past and present members of the Affordable and Fair Housing Partnership, Easthampton City Arts, and the Wayfinding Advisory Committee, Sage Engineering, consultants from Wright-Pierce, Favermann Design, Stantec, and VHB, and the many residents, businesses, property owners, boards, committees, and community members who participated in Easthampton's downtown and housing planning efforts.

These grant awards demonstrate how long-term planning can translate into implementation and real investment in our community. We're excited to keep the momentum going and put these funds to work for Easthampton! 🌟

Thank you to our state partners for investing in Easthampton!

🚶✨ Attention sidewalks: your moment has arrived.

This Saturday from 2–5 PM, downtown Easthampton will become the runway for Sidewalk Strut, Easthampton City Arts' celebration of creativity, community, and the fine art of walking around with purpose.

As planners, we spend a lot of time thinking about sidewalks. Connectivity. Accessibility. Pedestrian infrastructure. You know—the glamorous stuff.

But this weekend, we're thinking about sidewalks for what they were truly meant for: strutting.

Join us in the Cottage Street Cultural District for an afternoon of art, music, performances, and delightfully unexpected moments. Whether your strut says "supermodel," "dad heading to the hardware store," or "person chasing a runaway shopping cart," you're welcome here.

📅 Saturday, June 6th
⏰ 2:00–5:00 PM
📍 Cottage Street Cultural District, Downtown Easthampton

Come support Easthampton City Arts and local artists, celebrate our vibrant downtown, and give those sidewalks the attention they've been planning for all year.
