Yesterday, officers responded to North Delaware Drive for a male experiencing a mental health crisis. Over the course of several hours, our officers and detectives, along with multiple agencies assisted in resolving the incident peacefully, faced with difficult circumstances and challenging terrain.

We extend our thanks and appreciation to Forks Township Fire Dept, Easton Fire Department, Pennsylvania Water Rescue Station 72, Suburban EMS, Bethlehem Township EMS, Lower Mt Bethel Sandt's Eddy Fire Company, Pennsylvania State Police, Salisbury Township Police Department’s crisis negotiator, and Northampton County Emergency Management Services.

With the recent cold weather that we are experiencing our local rivers are starting to freeze at the surface. River ice is never fully safe, regardless of appearance, and should not be walked on, as moving water, fluctuating levels, and hidden weak spots make it highly unpredictable. It is significantly thinner and weaker than lake ice. If you fall in, cold water shock and strong currents make rescue extremely difficult.

Local lakes and ponds are also freezing. Remember, ice is never 100% safe.
