What is Mobile Integrated Health (MIH)?

Mobile Integrated Healthcare (MIH) focuses on patient-centered resources outside of hospitals, including EMS response, community paramedics, and nurse triage lines. This approach enhances care quality and cost-effectiveness by coordinating resources and guiding patients to appropriate care, while also promoting self-care at home.

In recognition of Mobile Integrated Health Week, meet Rachael Cox, the paramedic helping lead Talbot County’s Mobile Integrated Health efforts out of Talbot County Emergency Services (DES)

As Special Programs Coordinator with Talbot County Department of Emergency Services, Rachael manages the Mobile Integrated Health (MIH) program and Public Access Defibrillator program, working closely with community members and local partners every day.

“People might not realize how much I interact with the community in a non-emergency setting. Creating partnerships between our department and our community has been essential in both of my roles, and I’ve been blessed with the opportunity to meet so many wonderful people outside of our organization.”

For Rachael, that connection to the community is also one of the most rewarding parts of the job.

“I enjoy serving a community that is incredibly appreciative of the services our department provides.”

Thank you, Rachael, for your dedication to serving Talbot County and building connections that help keep our community healthy and safe.

Talbot County Mobile Integrated Health Hosts Medical Supply Drive During MIH Month
EASTON, Md. – Talbot County Mobile Integrated Health (MIH) is celebrating Mobile Integrated Health Month this October with a medical supply drive to help community members remain safe, healthy and independent at home.
Throughout the month, residents are invited to donate new or gently used medical and household supplies that can be distributed to individuals served by the MIH program.
“Many of the people we work with need simple items that can make a significant difference in their ability to safely remain at home,” said Rachael Cox, Talbot County Special Programs Coordinator. “The community has been incredibly generous in supporting this effort, and these donations allow us to connect residents with supplies they may otherwise have difficulty obtaining.”
