🚨Grant Announcement🚨: Back in the beginning of October, two projects in my district were awarded $303,000 in state grants to further develop and expand recreation areas. The funds will go to the following projects:

- $200,000 grant will allow for further development of Hackett Park in Easton. Work will include construction of a bike park and parking area, ADA access, landscaping, project signs and other site improvements.

- $103,000 grant will be used toward the purchase of approximately 5.19 acres in Williams Township for an addition to the Mariton Wildlife Preserve, protecting interior forest habitat, passive recreation, and open space.

We are fortunate in Northampton County to have numerous green spaces for residents to enjoy leisure activities. These grants will improve those areas and provide additional opportunities so people can get outside and enjoy some fresh air.

HARRISBURG, Oct. 7 – A park in Easton and wildlife preserve in Williams Township today were awarded $303,000 in state grants to further develop and expand the recreation areas, according to Rep. Robert Freeman.“We are fortunate in Northampton County to have numerous green spaces for...

The Borough of Freemansburg celebrated its 170th Anniversary this past weekend, along with marking the 250th Anniversary of the United States! I was happy to present Freemansburg with a Certificate of Recognition to celebrate the occasion. During my remarks, I touched on how Freemansburg is a community with a rich and significant heritage. Shaped by transportation systems like the canal, as well as by industry and commerce, with many residents having worked in the Bethlehem Steel mills across the river. All its residents built a lasting sense of community that persists to this day for those who call Freemansburg home.

This past Saturday, I presented a citation to the Easton Branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) for their centennial celebration! The AAUW Easton Branch was founded in 1926 and has served women and girls in the area by initiating projects to encourage young women to widen their curriculum and career opportunities, supporting the Let’s Read Math program, helping to establish the Working Women’s Wardrobe at the Third Street Alliance, granting scholarships, delivering Women in History presentations, contributing to history publications, and partnering with organizations and local colleges to strengthen civic participation. Throughout its history, the AAUW Easton Branch has made inestimable contributions to the welfare of society through a sense of fellowship and through its programs, which are designed to enhance the quality of life for all. Congratulations to the AAUW Easton Branch for their centennial anniversary and thank you for inviting me to be a part of their celebration!

Yesterday I was happy to participate in the annual Hellertown Halloween Parade! It was great to see so many familiar faces along the parade route. It was a beautiful day for the parade, and the Borough always does a great job putting the event together. I was also happy to prepare and present a Certificate of Recognition to Eric Medei, who was being honored as the 2026 Hellertown Halloween Parade Grand Marshal, and prepared another Certificate of Recognition for Mayor David Heintzelman, in recognition of his thirty years of service to the parade and the Borough of Hellertown, which will be presented at a later date. Thank you to the Borough of Hellertown and all of the volunteers who put together a great parade!

Today the Kiwanis Club of Easton held a luncheon where they posthumously recognized Tyler Weidner as the Firefighter of the Year for 2025. I presented a citation from the PA House of Representatives that recognized Tyler’s service in the fire department to his father Kevin Weidner. A graduate of Easton Area High School and The Citadel, Tyler followed in the footsteps of his father and grandfather when he joined the Easton Fire Department in 2021. A member of the First Platoon, Tyler showed great bravery, altruism, and leadership during his time with the department. From extinguishing fires and performing lifesaving CPR to mentoring the newer firefighters and cooking for his platoon, Tyler served as an example of what a firefighter and a servant of the community should be. Tyler’s legacy will continue to be carried on by his loving family and the firefighters who served alongside him.

On Saturday I was happy to join Easton city officials and members of the Italian American community for an Italian flag raising ceremony in centre square in recognition of Italian-American Heritage month! The Italian American community has made profound contributions to not only the city of Easton, but to the American experience. I remember growing up on S. 10th Street as a child and being surrounded by the close-knit Italian neighborhood there. I am still touched by how supportive they were of their families, neighbors, and the whole Easton community! 🇮🇹

Today I was happy to present a citation from the PA House of Representatives to Mark Biedlingmaier, who was being honored by the Easton Rotary Club for his more than forty years of work and service with the U.S. Department of State! Mark began his career with the State Department in 1983 and completed various operational, political, and administrative assignments abroad. He then served as Charge d’Affaires and a Career Development Officer prior to becoming Deputy Senior US Civilian Representative with the International Security Assistance Force in 2009. He went on to serve as Division Chief of Near East and South-Central Asia Affairs with the Bureau of Overseas Buildings Operations, Deputy Executive Director of the Bureau of African Affairs, Director of International Conferences with the Bureau of International Organization Affairs, Management Counselor in Nigeria, Deputy Chief of Mission in the Bahamas, and Minister-Counselor for Management Affairs in Mexico. In 2020 Mark became Senior Foreign Service Officer and Chief of Staff for the Bureau of Administration, which he held for nearly three years. He then returned to the department in 2025 to serve as the Acting Assistant Secretary for Administration for four months before retiring.

When presenting the citation to Mark, I thanked him for his forty years of service to our country. The work of the State Department is critical in ensuring good relations with other nations and to providing diplomatic relations that can foster cooperation and peace. Through his years of service, he provided institutional knowledge that brought important perspective, wealth of intelligence, and successful operations through his experience. Congratulations again to Mark Biedlingmaier for his forty years of distinguished service to our country!
