There’s been a lot of talk lately about where party money comes from. So we pulled the numbers.
We took every contribution the Talbot County Democratic Central Committee and the Talbot County Republican Central Committee reported to the Maryland State Board of Elections this year and asked one question: whose money is local?
Here’s what the filings show.
🔵 85% of TalbotDems dollars came from Talbot County addresses. For the Republicans, it was 61%.
🔵 3% of our money came from outside Maryland. For the Republicans, it was 32%.
🔵 Our typical gift is $10.60. Theirs is $31.40.
🔵 Our largest single gift came from Easton. Theirs came from Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
No corporations. No out-of-state money machine. Just hundreds of small gifts from neighbors in Easton, Oxford, St. Michaels, Trappe, Cordova, Tilghman and across the county, many of them $5 and $10 a month.
That’s how TalbotDems is funded. If you’d like to be one of those neighbors, the link is in the comments.
