National Drug Take Back Day is Tomorrow!

On Saturday, October 24, the Easton Police Department will participate in National Drug Take Back Day from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Police Headquarters parking lot, 700 Morehouse Road.

Residents are encouraged to bring unused or expired medications for safe disposal. Properly disposing of medications helps prevent misuse and keeps unwanted medications from remaining in our homes.

Look for the big tent with the Easton PD logo and Sgt. Lyman waiting to chat, have some coffee, and box up those medications to dispose of. Also available will be a child car seat check with Officer Telesco.

Can't make it tomorrow? Safe medication disposal is also available 24/7 in the lobby of Police Headquarters.

On October 16th the below pictured vehicle was clocked at approximately 55 MPH on RADAR on Route 59 southbound in front of Helen Keller Middle School. Officer Scialdoni attempted to stop the vehicle, however the operator decided to pull away at speeds exceeding 100 MPH in a school zone right after the school dismissal, putting our residents and students in danger. Due to the excessive speed, amount of citizens on the road, and current legislation that prohibits us from engaging in a pursuit, we were unable to identify the registration plate on the vehicle. The Easton Police Department takes motor vehicle violations of this magnitude very seriously and is looking to the public to help identify this dangerous driver. We have greatly increased our presence and enforcement over the last year and would like to continue our success in the reduction of speed and unsafe driving. If you are able to identify who this vehicle belongs to, please reach out to Officer Scialdoni ([email protected]) at 203-268-4111, or send us a direct message on Facebook or Instagram. The social media pages are not monitored 24/7, but we will keep an eye on any messages that come across with this information. We genuinely appreciate any assistance in this matter and we will continue to increase our presence and enforcement in the Town of Easton.

***Upcoming event!***

Saturday, October 24th in the parking lot across from the police department, we are partnering with the DEA again to collect and properly dispose of unwanted or expired prescription medication. Sgt. Lyman will be there along with Officer Telesco to also provide a child car seat safety clinic to check your installed seat, or set up a new one. Plenty of Dunkin on hand for a chat if you're up for it!

Last year we collected 73 pounds of prescription drugs to be turned over to the DEA for proper disposal. As always you can utilize the red Dropbox located inside the PD lobby if you are unable to make it to the event.

Tips from Fire Marshal Sherwood at the start of Fire Prevention Week.

Fire Prevention Week is October 4–10, a reminder that fire safety starts at home. As your Fire Marshal, I encourage everyone to test their smoke alarms, practice a home escape plan, and make sure each family member knows two ways out and where to meet safely outside. The focus of this years campaign is charging Lithium Ion batteries safely. Each day we will provide at least one Lithium Ion Battery Safety Tip.
Todays Tip:
Charge devices on hard, flat surfaces instead of beds or couches

Small steps today can help protect lives tomorrow.

Your Fire Department is here to help throughout the year. If you have fire safety questions, need assistance installing smoke alarms, or do not have working alarms in your home, please call 203-268-2833. We can provide smoke alarms to residents who need them—because everyone deserves a safe home.
