🇺🇸 SEPTEMBER 11 — WE REMEMBER 🇺🇸

Today, Franklin County EMS pauses to remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001, and to honor the courage and sacrifice of the first responders who ran toward danger when others were running away.

Twenty-five years later, we continue to remember the 2,977 lives lost and the countless families, responders, and communities forever changed by that day.

We honor the firefighters, police officers, EMTs, paramedics, dispatchers, military members, and civilians who demonstrated extraordinary courage in the face of unimaginable circumstances.

For those of us who serve in emergency medical services, September 11 carries a special meaning. It reminds us of the responsibility we share with those who came before us — to answer the call, to stand beside our communities, and to serve when people need us most.

We remember their lives.
We honor their sacrifice.
We will never forget.

🇺🇸 September 11, 2001 — Never Forget.

Join us this morning at 9 am for the 9/11 memorial on St. George Island, Florida

🦠🚨 SEPTEMBER IS SEPSIS AWARENESS MONTH 🚨🦠

Sepsis is a life-threatening medical emergency that can happen when the body has an extreme response to an infection. It can progress rapidly and cause serious organ damage or death.

The good news? Early recognition and treatment can save lives.

🚨 KNOW THE WARNING SIGNS

Sepsis can look different from person to person, but warning signs may include:

🌡️ Fever, chills, or feeling unusually cold
❤️ Fast heart rate
🫁 Fast or difficult breathing
😵 New confusion or altered mental status
💧 Extreme weakness or feeling severely ill
🚽 Decreased urine output
🩸 Low blood pressure or signs of poor circulation

Sepsis can develop from infections such as pneumonia, urinary tract infections, abdominal infections, skin infections, or other serious infections.

⏱️ WHEN IN DOUBT, ACT QUICKLY

If you or someone you care for has an infection and suddenly seems significantly worse, don’t wait to see if it gets better.

📞 Call 911 when emergency symptoms are present.

For EMS, recognizing the possibility of sepsis early is critical. From the initial 911 call through assessment, treatment, and rapid transport, every minute matters.

This Sepsis Awareness Month, take a moment to learn the signs, trust your instincts, and share this information with someone who may need it.

Recognize it. Respond to it. Save a life.

🇺🇸🚑 LABOR DAY WEEKEND | STAY SAFE, FRANKLIN COUNTY! 🌊

Labor Day weekend is here, and the Forgotten Coast is ready for another busy weekend of beaches, boating, fishing, family gatherings, and fun.

As you enjoy the long weekend, Franklin County EMS wants everyone to have a safe one. A few simple reminders can help keep an enjoyable weekend from turning into an emergency:

🌊 Around the water: Wear a properly fitted life jacket when boating, and never underestimate changing water conditions.

🏖️ At the beach: Pay attention to posted beach flags and current conditions. Never enter the water when double red flags are flying.

🚗 On the road: Buckle up, stay focused, and never drive impaired. Give emergency vehicles plenty of room when they are responding.

☀️ In the Florida heat: Stay hydrated, take breaks from the heat, and keep a close eye on children and older adults.

📱 Most importantly: Know your location. Whether you’re at home, on the water, or visiting one of our many beautiful coastal areas, knowing your exact location can help emergency crews find you faster if you need help.

Our EMTs and Paramedics will be working throughout the holiday weekend, ready to respond whenever Franklin County calls.

From our family at Franklin County EMS to yours—have a safe, happy, and enjoyable Labor Day weekend! 🇺🇸💙

Would you rather…

🚁 Catch a *safety nap* during the day and fly all night?
🔥 Fly all day and all night - all gas no brakes

Lately, the weather has kept us flying under our night vision goggles A LOT… but it’s ok because they make us look cool 😎
