Did you know....

It is against the ordinance to have an unaltered female cat/dog AND an unaltered male cat/dog in the same house. Example: you can not have a male dog & female dog (same species) in the same residence if one of them is not fixed. There is no breeding allowed in Eastpointe. We have a zero tolerance policy for animal ordinance violations.

You may remember the lactating French Bulldog on the left in the photo who was found on 8/31/26. An unaltered male French Bulldog (on the right) was later discovered.

Educational and warning purposes: if your pet is found in conditions in which violate any of our animal ordinance, we are not obligated to return your pet to you. This also includes pets who wonder into the city of Eastpointe. You will be given citations for criminal charges and we will seek custody of your pet(s) through a forfeiture hearing. At the forfeiture hearing, the judge will decide who gains custody of your pet.

On the day of these two forfeiture hearing, the owners did agree to surrender both breeding dogs to EAC. They are still awaiting court for their criminal charges. Both dogs have been transferred to a rescue partner (who will not be named for their safety) for their adoption process. They are off for sterilization and a new lease on life.

Both of these dogs were also connected to another French Bulldog who was brought in a "stray" who was suffering from pyometra. Pyometra is life-threatening and deadly if it goes without emergency surgery. Criminal charges were also issued for that incident as well.

Our goal is to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all pets and our residents. We will not apologize for our actions if it means knowing your pet(s) have a better, healthier, and safer life. Protecting the voiceless is what our career was made for 🫶🐾.

Eastpointe police are asking for the public’s help identifying a woman who investigators believe may have information about a severely neglected dog found abandoned outside an Aldi grocery store over the weekend.

🐰🐹 A THOUSAND TIMES THANK YOU! 🦎🐢

On Friday, we took in multiple species of animals from a neglect case, many of whom were animals we simply weren’t prepared for. We knew we had our work cut out for us, but what happened next reminded us exactly why we do what we do.

We put out a cry for help, and our community heard us loud and clear. And WOW… YOU SHOWED UP!

Our scaley friends 🦎, little friends 🐹, water friend 🐢, and of course our dogs 🐶 all received an incredible outpouring of support. From supplies and donations to simply sharing our plea and spreading the word, every single act of kindness made a difference.

We are truly overwhelmed by your generosity. What could have felt like an impossible situation became a little more manageable because so many people stepped up and said, “How can I help?”

It takes a village to care for the voiceless—and WOW, what a village we have!

Whether you're an Eastpointe resident or you're supporting us from communities near and far, please know that your kindness does not go unnoticed 🥹!

From the bottom of our hearts and on behalf of every animal who needed a little extra help this weekend…

**For those wondering about the bugs, they are Dubia Roaches. They are high protein for our scaley friends which is desperately needed for them. Thank you to the person who donated them! This is an odd request, which is why we did not ask for them (🤣). That being said, if others would like to donate more, we promise it will go to good use for them 🥰. **

Yesterday was one of the difficult days.

If you do not know proper husbandry or care for a species, please do the animal a favor and do the research before getting one. Or, better yet, don't get one at all if you are not willing to care for them properly. There are several critical animals that may not make it because of improper care.

This is a hard thing for us to swallow. Our goal is of course to end animal neglect, cruelty, abandonment, and etc. However, our goal is also to get to those suffering in time to save their life. While yes, they are currently still alive, they barely made it through the night (they are receiving care), their suffering is nowhere near ending. This could have all been avoided with proper care, husbandry, diet, and more.

All animals from this neglect case will be receiving much needed vet care. Species removed were dogs, bearded dragons, iguana, guinea pig, and a turtle. So many different species and all suffering 🥺.

For those not familiar with the reptile life, what you see in this photo is two bearded dragons. Both VERY emaciated. Both VERY dehydrated. Both laying lifeless. Both suffering and slowly dying. One so weak, she couldn't even open her eyes. Another who was too weak to move. What you don't feel in this photo is how cold they were when we got them. We placed them on a heating disc for warmth in this photo while our team scrambled to get them temporary proper care (until much needed items arrived from donations). Both black bearded as well and not because they were angry, rather because they are ill and suffering 💔.

These are just two critical lives we are working on saving, there are still others not pictured. Again, please do not get a pet if you are unwilling to do the proper research it takes to care for them. It's not fair to them and they do not deserve to suffer.

We appreciate everyone who heard our plea for help yesterday and ran to help us in our desperate time of need! It takes a village to make things happen! We are beyond lucky to feel the love and support from not only our Eastpointe community but from communities all over! With sincere gratitude, we THANK YOU!!!
