VFW Post 305

Click, click of soccer cleats is not what you typically hear at a VFW Meeting.

As I lead the meeting, just a few minutes in:

My daughter shows up.

She doesn’t disturb the meeting,

But her soccer cleats make a distinct noise.

She looks for a device to entertain her.

She comes up to the podium,

Gets the computer (click, click, click)

As the adjutant continues to read the minutes like my daughter isn’t there.

She orders herself food and settles in the back of the room.

I am grateful she is independent.

Does her own things and still wants to hang with Mom.

More importantly she has been accepted by the VFW Post.

She is allowed to come.

Family is important to me,

And if acceptance wasn’t the case, I wouldn’t be there.

I would not volunteer my time.

So if having a family is holding you back,

Let utilize your value of family.

Connect as Veterans and show up in ways that are uniquely yours.

VFW Post 305 would like to express our sincere gratitude to this group of members for their commitment to the proper disposal of unserviceable American flags. We also thank the many community members and organizations who bring these flags to us, allowing us to ensure they are retired in accordance with the highest traditions of respect and honor.

Looking for ways to get involved?

This is an invitation to all VFW Post 305 members, donors, sponsors, and volunteers.

Our very own, Tim Poppe, Junior Vice, will be leading the 1st

Fundraiser Committee Meeting
September 17th,
5pm
at VFW Club 305
(on Starr Ave, Eau Claire, WI)
All members are welcome.

If you not a member but still want to volunteer or donate--reach out to Tim Poppe or the Commander, Christina Baurichter--715.503.0046. Or show up to the meeting and we can provide more info.

Fundraising Committee is looking to increase funds to give back to Veterans in need, homeless, needing vehicle repairs, etc.

A recent example is a Marine Veteran traveling through to get to cancer treatment. His vehicle was totaled due to fire, lost all his paperwork in the fire. He couldn't check in time for his treatments, and just needed a way to return home states away. The post made that happen.

The need is not going away.

We collaborate with VFW District 9 unmet needs, Sofas for Service, Inc., More Than a Veteran Home, Veterans Donor Connect, etc.

Come join the mission and raise Veterans up out of their struggles.
