Eden Prairie is located in close proximity to the Minneapolis – St. Paul metro area providing a perfect balance of small town feel and big city amenities. The City received its name in the mid-1800s when it was considered a ‘garden spot’ in the newly developed Minnesota territory. Established in 1858, Eden Prairie remained a sleepy pastoral village until the mid-1900s when the additions of Flying Cloud Airport and Highway 494 put the City on the map, bringing thousands of homes and businesses to the area. Since then, the population of Eden Prairie has grown to more than 62,000 and the number of businesses has multiplied to more than 2,800. In addition to attractive residential neighborhoods and affordable housing options, the City boasts nearly 10,000 acres of land designated for parks and open spaces, miles of scenic views and a multitude of breathtaking lakes and beaches. With a multitude of award-winning restaurants, a super-regional shopping center, top-ranked schools and a myriad of entertainment and lifestyle options, it’s no wonder 90% of residents rate the quality of life in Eden Prairie well above average. Whether you come for a visit or stay for a lifetime, the City of Eden Prairie is a welcoming community with a thriving economy, and is truly a great place to Live, Work and Dream!

🔥Oct. 4–10 is Fire Prevention Week🔥

To help prevent lithium-ion battery fires, when charging on a plane, keep portable charging devices on the tray table. Do not charge devices in overhead compartments and never charge e-cigarettes or vapes on a plane. If a battery overheats or fails, it is important for the flight crew to be able to respond quickly. ✈️

EPPD Provides Updates on Recent Shootings, Regional Response

The Eden Prairie Police Department hosted a joint news conference today with regional law enforcement partners to provide updates on recent shootings in Eden Prairie and ongoing efforts to address Somali gang-related violence across the metro area.

The news conference followed a meeting of regional public safety agencies coordinated by the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) in response to the recent violence. Law enforcement leaders emphasized the importance of sharing intelligence, coordinating investigations and working together to identify those responsible, prevent further violence and protect our communities.

At the press conference, Police Chief Matt Sackett provided an update on the Oct. 2 homecoming shooting incident.

“On Thursday, Oct. 8, Eden Prairie Police arrested 18-year-old Adam Abdihakeem Adam of St. Louis Park in connection with the Oct. 2 shooting outside Eden Prairie High School that injured two individuals,” Chief Sackett said. “Today, the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office charged Adam with two counts of second-degree assault with a deadly weapon and one count of second-degree riot. The investigation remains active, and additional arrests or charges are possible.”

Chief Sackett also shared that police are continuing to investigate the Oct. 5 shots-fired incident at the Speedway gas station on West 78th Street. No injuries were reported, and investigators have not identified a connection between the two incidents at this time.

Anyone with information about either incident is asked to call 911, email the EPPD at [email protected] or call the anonymous tip line at 952-949-8477.

🔥Oct. 4–10 is Fire Prevention Week🔥

To help prevent lithium-ion battery fires, charge large items like e-Bikes, scooters and power tools outside when possible. Do not block exits when charging. These batteries store more energy, and fires can grow quickly if they fail. 🛵
