ECU Health Bertie and Chowan hospitals' emergency department leaders Jessica Price and Kaili Nixon recently presented their work to improve care for patients during the Emergency Nurses Association's Emergency Nursing 2026 conference in Phoenix.

Jessica and Kaili shared how their teams are working to ensure patients continue to receive safe, timely and high-quality care, even during periods of extended emergency department stays.
Their presentation showcased the dedication, innovation and teamwork that help strengthen the patient experience across our communities.

We joined our partners at College of The Albemarle as they celebrated the opening of the new Regional Health Sciences Education Center. The facility will help prepare the next generation of nurses, allied health professionals and other health care workers who will serve communities across eastern North Carolina.

During the community open house, the ECU Health Chowan Hospital team provided wellness screenings and health education while connecting with residents and future health care professionals.

We look forward to continuing our work together to educate, inspire and support the health care leaders of tomorrow.

We're grateful to everyone who joined us for our Healthy Living Dinner! The evening brought community members together to learn, connect and focus on the importance of mental health and overall well-being.

Guests heard from behavioral health therapist Loretta Nixon, who shared insights on reducing stigma, recognizing the importance of mental wellness and connecting individuals with the support and resources they need. Keynote speaker Sarah Summerton, director of Team Member Health & Well-Being, offered practical strategies for building healthy habits, finding balance and prioritizing whole-person wellness.
