Proud Salute to Mr Shull and all our members who recognized others who support and honor our troops, veterans.

When members of the Oklahoma Military Order of the Purple Heart were brainstorming names for their new Legacy Award, Exchange Director/CEO Tom Shull immediately came to mind.

From expanding lifelong online shopping benefits for honorably discharged Veterans to helping position the Exchange as a leading employer of military-connected talent, his impact continues to strengthen the military community.

My question was how were the selections made ? In the past years in Oklahoma our state commander submitted names after input from our chapters. This year the members of my chapter and other chapters are contacting me saying who is the Oklahoma brother selected ? I am thankful that they do this for our brothers and sisters who have earned a Purple Heart . Just don’t understand if a person can self nominate ? Or does the merit of what he/she does should count in their state to support the Purple Heart . We used it in the past as a tool to honor those who went above and beyond in service to our state.
I mean no disrespect just curious . Very proud of the members who have been sent before after we nominated them. They are some of the best hardest working members in our state, Gary Lewis, Mitch Reed and James Battles.

This , the National Purple Heart Honor Mission is pleased to announce the selected honorees for the 2026 Purple Heart Patriot Project Mission. They represent the very best of our nation, having put their lives on the line for America and the freedoms we all cherish. Now, they’re getting the trip of the lifetime from a grateful nation.
