Meet Phil. ❤️

Phil is a retired commercial construction superintendent I met while knocking doors before the June primary. He had a John Bachman sign in his yard. John was running in the Republican primary for HD96.

I told Phil I’d met John on the campaign trail and we’d had a great time bantering over our differences. John and I actually have something important in common: We both recognize a need for change. We just have different ideas about how to get there.

Sidenote: I asked John if I could mention him in this story. His response? “Not only am I okay with it, but you can say it was approved by John Bachman if you like!”

See? We can have different political views and still be friends. 😉

Now, back to Phil!

When we met, half his yard was torn up. The City had replaced his water meter and left a mess. Phil is on oxygen and has difficulty talking, so calling the City wasn’t easy. I offered to help and gave him my number.

On June 17, the day after the primary, Phil texted: “Congratulations! I can vote for you now. Can you call the city for me?”

Absolutely. I called the City of Edmond, and they promptly addressed the issue. I visited Phil today, and his yard looks great. Thank you, City of Edmond!

Was this my job? Absolutely not. Why do we need a job title to help someone?

Phil had another candidate’s sign in his yard when we met. That didn’t matter. He was my neighbor. He needed help. I could help. I wanted to help. It’s really that simple.

Somewhere along the way, we’ve allowed political differences to become personal divisions. We don’t have to agree on everything to care about one another.

Mutual respect, kindness, and understanding can go a long way.

It’s time we start taking care of each other again. We are all neighbors. We are all Oklahomans. ❤️

You can’t always control what others choose to do, but you can control what you choose to do next. ☀️

I’ll always choose to turn something negative into something good.

Today, that meant getting the opportunity to meet Officer O’Neill. He’s normally the School Resource Officer (SRO) at Edmond North, but as luck would have it, he was on patrol duty today. 🚔🚨

What started as a conversation about damaged and missing signs turned into a meaningful discussion about student va**ng, school safety, and the real-life challenges our kids are facing every single day.

These are the very issues I want to see addressed. He is exactly the expert I want to collaborate with.

I believe change happens when we take the time to listen to the people experiencing these challenges firsthand.

So, thank you, Phantom of the Yard Signs. 👻 What started as something negative turned into an opportunity to listen, learn, and connect.

No matter what, I’ll always choose to find the good. ❤️

➡️ Did you know that SQ 847 could affect how our growing communities finance public safety infrastructure?

As our communities grow, so does the need for police facilities, equipment, and emergency services. SQ 847 would limit growth in taxable property values, potentially affecting future property tax revenue and the ability to finance certain public safety projects.

That doesn’t mean an automatic cut to municipal police operating budgets, but it does raise important questions about how we plan and pay for the needs of growing communities.

🎭 The Phantom of the Yard Signs strikes again. 👻

Hot take: We don’t have to agree to treat each other with respect.

Different opinions are healthy. Disagreements lead to conversations. Conversations lead to collaboration. And collaboration is how we actually move our communities forward.

We can challenge ideas without attacking people. We can disagree without being destructive. And we can work together without belonging to the same political party.

Our children are watching. Let’s show them what respectful disagreement and real leadership look like.

I didn’t run for office to fight against people. I ran to fight for people. Even the ones who disagree with me.

Because at the end of the day, we don’t have to think alike to work together.

And to the Phantom, I’d love to sit down and collaborate with you as well. ☕️

I was an Oklahoma Edvocates member before it was cool. 😉 Membership since March 6, 2018 to be exact.

✨I am SO proud to receive their endorsement!✨

I have tremendous respect for Oklahoma Edvocates and their commitment to evaluating candidates based on qualifications, involvement, and dedication to education, not simply party affiliation.

Endorsements like this mean the most to me because they recognize something I deeply value: showing up and doing the work.

I’ve spent years advocating for students, supporting teachers, and asking the hard questions about what’s happening in our schools.

Supporting public education shouldn’t be a political buzzword. It should be a commitment backed by action.

I didn’t choose education as a campaign platform because it was trending. It was the other way around. I chose to run for office because I’d spent years advocating for education and knew more needed to be done.

Education wasn’t a campaign strategy or a messaging pivot. It was the reason I decided to run.

Thank you, Oklahoma Edvocates, for this endorsement. Regardless of November 3rd’s outcome, my commitment to our schools, teachers, and students remains unwavering.

It’s time we talk about the cloud of smoke in the room. ☹️

We spend so much time talking about protecting children and preparing them for the future… but what about their present?

What are they being exposed to? What are we doing to protect them? And when did this become something we’re willing to accept?

How can we expect our children to have a brighter future if we’re ignoring the reality they’re growing up in today?

Our kids deserve more than conversations about their future. They deserve action in their present.

Let’s stop avoiding the hard conversations and start tackling the problems

We can’t protect childhood if we’re unwilling to confront what’s threatening it.

Remember your kids on Nov 3.

I’ll keep showing up and listening.

I received the same email every other parent at my daughter’s school received.

I decided to take a closer look at the state law behind it.

I’m a mom. I’ll always be a mom. No matter what role I hold, that will never change.

I see things through the eyes of a parent because that’s exactly what I am. When something affects my children, I ask questions, look for answers, and advocate for what’s best for them.

And I look forward to the opportunity to do the same for yours.

To advocate for your children with the same passion, care, and determination I have for my own.

Because when it comes to their future, your child is my child, too.

I understand this is one small change, but the keyword here is CHANGE.

It’s time for new leadership. Leadership that brings fresh ideas, questions the status quo, and refuses to become complacent.

Leadership that is present, involved, and connected to the communities it serves.

I believe meaningful progress starts with listening, asking questions, and being willing to do things differently.

I’d be honored to have your vote on November 3.
