Congratulations to our Information and Alarm Specialist, Jennifer Hunt!

Jennifer has completed and passed her Certified Alarm Manager (CAM) certification through False Alarm Reduction Association (FARA).

This certification is a demonstration of Jennifer’s proficiency and expertise in the false alarm reduction arena, and is obtained through an exam proctored under strict rules and guidelines.

This is a huge accomplishment and we could not be more proud!!! Congratulations, Jennifer!

It’s official! Congratulations to our newest fully trained Emergency Dispatcher, Kennyon #202!

Kennyon has officially been released from the Edmond Emergency Communications Basic Training Program after 8 months of intensive on-the-job training.

Reaching this point takes hard work, commitment, and a willingness to keep learning.

Congratulations, Kennyon! You’ve earned it!

Earlier today, Edmond officers responded to the McDonald’s parking lot near Santa Fe High School following reports of an altercation involving a 16-year-old male who was reportedly holding a machete and threatening another male.
Officers located the suspect vehicle nearby, stopped the vehicle, and identified one of the occupants as the suspect. He was taken into custody and arrested for assault with a deadly weapon.
Due to the close proximity to Santa Fe High School, the school was placed in secure mode as a precaution. The altercation was isolated and stemmed from an earlier fight between the suspect and victim. There is no indication of an ongoing threat to the school or surrounding community.

Edmond 911's Project KEEP is designed to enhance safety and support for our community members with special needs. This free, voluntary program allows the City of Edmond dispatch to maintain a confidential registry of vulnerable residents' essential details and emergency contacts.

By providing first responders with timely access to this data, Project KEEP ensures emergency personnel are equipped to deliver informed, compassionate assistance in a variety of emergencies. The program also facilitates more efficient response and reunification in cases where non-verbal children or individuals may wander or be unable to communicate.

Project KEEP helps create a safer, more inclusive Edmond, where every citizen is protected and supported.

*** UPDATE: The issue has been resolved.***

Portions of the state are currently affected by a 911 routing issue that began at approximately 3 p.m. today. The issue is causing some 911 calls to be misrouted to other parts of the state. At approximately 4:20 PM incoming calls were routed to our predetermined 10 digit telephone lines. When calling 911 please be prepared to provide your location and telephone number.

Calls to 911 are still being answered, but if you experience trouble, please call (405) 359-4338.

We are in close contact with 911 partners. At this time AT&T does not have an estimated time for repair.

**Please DO NOT call 911 to test your service.**

BEHIND EVERY RESPONSE: DISPATCHER SPOTLIGHT SERIES

As our first spotlight, for the month of September, Edmond 911 is proud to spotlight Emergency Dispatcher II, Pam B.!

Pam was nominated by one of her peers for her outstanding work as the dedicated Fire Dispatcher during the large grass fires that quickly spread near the area of Coffee Creek and Coltrane on September 5th.
With multiple major incidents happening simultaneously, it was an incredibly busy and challenging day for our 911 center. Through it all, Pam remained calm, focused, and aware of everything happening around her. She helped keep critical information flowing, while continuing to answer incoming emergency calls from the community.

Behind every emergency response is a dispatcher helping coordinate the people, information, and necessary resources to get help where it's needed. And Pam answered that call. Her experience, skill, and steady demeanor made a huge impact on the success of that day.

We are proud to have Pam as part of our team and grateful for the work she does for our community every day. Thank you for your service, Pam!
