Meet JacJac - who is extremely photogenic! 🐾
JacJac just returned home from a great summer road trip adventure. He and his family drove to the Olympic Peninsula in Washington where he saw the ocean for the first time. He also took a ferry ride to Victoria, Canada, where he visited Munro’s and Russell’s Bookshops. He loved seeing the sights and the big trees, but is happy to be back home. Even though he is exhausted from the trip, he looks forward to another adventure next year!

It’s Throwback Thursday, so we’re diving into some Edmond history! 🏫 💊
Howard’s Drug Store was opened at the turn of the century by J. W. Howard, one of the founders of the Oklahoma Territory Normal School. In 1907, Everett Hiatt purchased the store. Later, Dr. Howard’s nephew bought an interest in the business, and it became known as H & H Drug Store. When Hiatt left Edmond, Howard resumed ownership and the store once again operated under the name Howard’s Drug Store.

The Murrah Collection, a group of artworks salvaged from the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building following the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing, will leave Chambers Library June 24–26, 2026. For more than two decades, the collection has called Chambers Library home, serving as a place of remembrance, reflection, and learning for the UCO community. The artwork will undergo preservation storage before eventually becoming part of the Oklahoma City National Memorial & Museum.
As the collection prepares to leave UCO, we encourage the Broncho community to visit in person during the next two weeks to experience these remarkable works of art, reflect on their history and honor those whose lives were forever changed by the events of April 19, 1995. Chambers Library also provides an online collection tour as well, for those who are not able to visit in person.
The Chambers Library will work to provide updates once the collection is installed in the Oklahoma City National Memorial & Museum. Information on the progress of the construction and is also available through the Oklahoma City Nation Memorial & Museum. Click the link in our bio for further information.

Meet Binx and Pocket!
Binx is a 1 ½ year-old white Pit/Husky cross, with all the manic energy that mix implies. He’d been wandering the neighborhood, and found us while we were walking our other dog, Pocket. We adopted him from the unofficial foster situation he was in, and it’s been true love ever since. He’s pictured here putting his doggy daycare friend in a headlock.
Pocket is a blonde Anatolian Shepard mix we adopted from the OKC shelter at the beginning of the pandemic. She’s very mellow (except at dinner time) and very gentle (except when wrestling with her little brother Binx). She turned six earlier this year. She’s pictured here with her parents Justin and Rebecca wearing matching hoodies.

Thursday is here and we have another breathtaking piece from Special Collections & University Archives! 🏜️
Kenny McKenna is known for his evocative Western and Southwestern landscapes, rendered exclusively in oil on canvas. His style is somewhat impressionistic, characterized by rich textures and loose brushwork that convey a sense of atmosphere and movement. Viewers often describe his paintings as eliciting a profound sense of warmth and calm. Through his art, McKenna invites the viewer to experience an inherent infusion of sunlight that seems to radiate from the canvas.
McKenna’s formative years were spent living on both the East and West Coasts of the United States. Family road trips through the Southwest introduced him to the vivid colors, desert landscapes, and dramatic canyons that would later define his artistic focus. As an adult, McKenna traveled extensively as a professional musician, continuing to observe and paint the diverse landscapes of the American West.
His work is held in the permanent collections of several prestigious institutions, including the Autry Museum of the American West in Los Angeles, the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City, and the Briscoe Western Art Museum in San Antonio.
