Just a reminder for Early Voting Dates and Times for the November 3, 2026 General Election.
*All Dates/Times, Locations and Sample Ballots are also located on the Jackson County Website on the Elections 2026 tab.

We know 8a-5p makes it hard for some working voters to get to the polls this week, but we have plenty of extended hours during the weekend and the second week of early voting to accommodate all voters. We follow the guidelines and codes set out by the Secretary of State.

Please see below our requirements per SOS:

Counties: For elections in which the county is serving as the early voting clerk, early voting must be conducted at the main early voting location on each weekday that is not a legal state holiday for a period of at least nine (9) hours. Voting may not be conducted earlier than 6:00 AM or later than 10:00 PM. (Sec. 85.005(a)).

Extended Early Voting Hours
Note for ALL counties: Voting in the general election for state and county officers shall be conducted at the main early voting location for at least 12 consecutive hours on each weekday of the last week of early voting. Voting may not be conducted earlier than 6:00 AM or later than 10:00 PM. (Sec. 85.005(c)).

Weekend Early Voting Hours
NOTE FOR ALL COUNTIES REGARDLESS OF POPULATION SIZE: The main early voting location must be open for at least 12 consecutive hours on the last Saturday of the early voting period, except that voting may not be conducted earlier than 6:00 AM or later than 10:00 PM, and for at least 6 consecutive hours on the last Sunday of the early voting period, except that voting may not be conducted earlier than 9:00 AM or later than 10:00 PM. (Sec. 85.006(e)).

We have gotten word that Voters are having a hard time navigating the County Website to find voting hours, locations and sample ballots. Recently the County was required by the State to make some changes to the website as to make it ADA compliant. Because of this, the Elections/Voting tab does look a little different and has made it a little harder for us to post some documents, but the info is there. You will find tabs with Voting Dates/Times, Locations as well as Sample Ballots. Please see the link below to the Jackson County Elections 2026 page.

Last Day to Apply for Ballot by Mail (Received, not Postmarked) is Friday, October 23, 2026. Early Voting begins Monday, October 19, 2026 and ends on Friday, October 30, 2026.

You may have heard that a ballot marked with initials or other writing may disqualify your ballot, but that is a misconception. In fact, the presiding election judge for a polling place or the early voting clerk must sign or initial the ballots in Texas. Don't let misinformation confuse you.

Effective today, October 2nd, The Burn Ban for Jackson County has been lifted following recent countywide rainfall.

While the ground may appear wet, there are still significant amounts of dry vegetation and other fuels that can ignite quickly. These dry fuels can lead to an uncontrolled fire if outdoor burning is not conducted with caution.

Residents are urged to:
- Notify dispatch before and after burning
- Burn responsibly and monitor all fires at all times
- Keep water or firefighting equipment on hand
- Avoid burning on windy days

By practicing safe burning, you help to protect your property, your neighbor's property and and ensure emergency responders remain available for other incidents that may arise.
